Reflections

“There is a great market for religious experience

in our world; there is little enthusiasm for the

patient acquisition of virtue, little inclination to

sign up for a long apprenticeship in what earlier

generations of Christians called holiness.”

― Eugene H. Peterson,

A Long Obedience in the Same Direction

“The quiet, modest, yet very positive attitude of

faith that these three men [Shadrach, Meshach and

Abednego] display is one of the noblest examples

in the Scriptures of faith fully resigned to the will of

God. These men ask for no miracle; they expect

none. Theirs is the faith that says, ‘Though He slay

me, yet I will trust in Him.’ (Job 13:15)”
