AS I SEE ITCivil Liberties -VS- The so-called ‘War-

On-Terrorism’.-American Citizens have made it clear

that they want to protect their civil rights and freedoms without government snooping and spying on them.

-But the government (regardless of po-litical party) have equally made it clear that they are using ‘terrorism’ as justifi cation for violating citizens rights by continuing to in-vade our personal lives.

-As I See It, it’s completely bogus to equate the governments spying on our phone calls, emails and computers with the ridiculous concept of an imaginary ‘War-On-Terrorism’.

-Of course, there are a few people who say that it is ok for the government to sacri-fi ce our rights and freedoms.

-But the massive government surveil-lance programs which we’ve recently learned about pose the question, “Does hir-ing private contractors to go through our most personal and private communications keep us safe from terrorists?”-

-Most Americans say they have lost rights and freedoms as a result of the governments ‘security’ programs.

-In my opinion, as with most things po-litical, the theory is completely bogus.

-This so-called ‘War on Terrorism’ is nothing more than using and abusing our Military to exploit and repress ‘foreigners’ in their own country.

-Surprisingly, one survey claimed that

it’s predominantly Democrat-leaning, old-er, lower-income females who will give up their right-to-privacy because they are most concerned with terrorism. But this trait is typically associated with right-wing ‘kill-anyone- who-disagrees- with-you’ Repub-licans.

-The other extreme, people who value their freedom and privacy more than ar-resting and torturing ‘foreigners’ are most-ly men, under age 40 with incomes above $50,000-a-year. Who, typically, are Repub-lican.

-As I see It, we tried the free-for-all poli-tics of Reganomics; then the hands-off ap-proach of the Clinton years; followed by a disastrous decade of the Bush-Leagues. And now we have a President and Senate which cannot act -vs- a Congress which will not act.

-So-called Representative Government is no longer working. It’s time to change the USA to a Democracy.

-If our elected government can’t decide what to do, I say, ‘Ask-The-People’!

-These days, everyone and anyone can vote by computer. So it would be relatively simple to get a decision from the voters, one-issue-at-a-time.

Here’s a few suggestions and my guess as to the decisions of the American people>;

Q-”Should we do away with Income Taxes?’=YES!

Trashing Amer-ica!

Even if you are not a low informa-tion voter the cur-rent administration will keep you con-fused. A representa-tive of the Obama administration said

raising the debt limit will not increase the defi cit one cent. Do they think we are stupid? If you want to raise the debt limit that must mean you want to borrow and spend more money and that will increase the defi cit. Does that make sense?

How’s come I keep hearing about Social Security funds running out, but I never hear about welfare funds running out?

Now some things are starting to make sense. I could not fi gure out why some of the Governors changed their stance on OBAMACARE. It seems that the State Governments have been paying for prison-ers’ healthcare and now they will be covered by ObamaCare. This leaves the individual states with all the money that they were spending for the prisoners’ healthcare. This helps make ObamaCare numbers look suc-cessful through numbers of enrollments, but really it’s an expense on the American people.

If the 10 million illegals get free health-care, all is lost. The only hope is that it will collapse under its own weight. The only question is will the American Taxpayer be under it when it collapses? As of last week I heard a report that 12 people in Lake Coun-ty were successful in making it through the Website and the problem was they had a huge deductible.

----------A very important person to me said once,

if you don’t expect anything then you won’t be disappointed. It makes sense but there is something very fl awed in that statement. America was built on dreams of a better life and dreams of a better tomorrow. We need to expect a better tomorrow and help make it happen by working hard, being smart, us-ing common sense and making God a part of our life.

A little humor from Conan O’BrienQ: Have you heard about McDonald’s’

new Obama Value Meal?A: Order anything you like and the guy

behind you has to pay for it. --Conan O’Brien-----------Passing of Congressman C.W. Bill

YoungORLANDO, Fla. – Governor Rick Scott

made the following statement regarding the passing of Congressman C.W. Bill Young.

Tom Loury

PUBLISHER’S NOTESGovernor Scott said, “Ann and I join all

Floridians as we mourn the passing of Rep-resentative Bill Young. As Florida’s longest serving member of Congress, Bill will be remembered as a true statesman and cham-pion for the Tampa Bay area. He served with eight US Presidents throughout his career, always putting the families of Florida fi rst, and working across the aisle to fi nd solu-tions.

“His work to support military families, our veterans, and his own service with the Army National Guard and as a reservist, will leave a lasting legacy. Representative Young will be missed by his constituents and our entire nation. Ann and I offer our support and prayers to his wife Beverly and his sons and grandchildren during this dif-fi cult time.”

---------Ocala 4H volunteers report that the job

that was eliminated has been posted and a AA degree has been added to the job de-

scription. The person in the position had 15 years of experience in the Marion county 4H offi ce, in my eyes experience would be worth ten times what a AA degree would be worth. One local agriculture person was of the opinion that there is someone they want-ed to put in that position. I guess time will tell, we will report!

----------“A pen in the hand of this president is far

more dangerous than a gun in the hands of 200 million law-abiding citizens.”

“We Americans are so tired of being thought of as dumbasses by the rest of the world that we went to the polls this past No-vember and removed all doubt.”

CARING FOR YOUR EYES

“Droopy Eye-lids”

Have you no-ticed it gets more and more diffi cult to keep your eyes open after reading or using the com-puter for any length of time? Do you appear tired even

though you are not? Do you have to turn your head to the side to see approaching cars? Are you always arching your brows,

trying to open your eyes? The fact is, as we age, our eyelids may

droop and interfere with our vision. In our late thirties and early forties the elastic-ity in our delicate eyelid area starts to give out. They eyelid muscles may begin to weaken and fat may accumulate around the eye. Excessive drooping of the eyelid tis-sue can block out the upper and side part of your fi eld of vision. This condition can also cause irritation in and around your eye.

It may be possible to have a corrective procedure to improve your visual func-tion and/or for cosmetic reasons. Because

blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) can affect the functions and lubrication of the eye, a consultation with an ophthalmologist is im-portant. Although, other surgeons may per-form Blepharoplasty, an ophthalmologist is the only surgeon specifi cally trained to treat the eye.

There are different types of eyelid surger-ies which address different conditions of the eyelid; droopy eyelids, excessive tissue, fat accumulation, etc. Blepharoplasty can be done on the upper or lower eyelids to remove excess skin and fat from around the eyes. Excessive amounts of skin folds above the eye can produce a sagging, tired look which detracts from one’s general appearance, as well as blocking vision. Excessive tissue can also lie on the eyelashes trapping dry skin and debris which can irritate the eyelids as well as the eyes. Blepharoplasty can be done for either cosmetic or medical reasons. Testing can be done pre-operatively to deter-mine medical necessity.

Sometimes the eyelid droops without ex-cessive tissue of the eyelids. This type of drooping (ptosis) usually involves the leva-tor muscle which opens and closes the eye-lid. This may be the result of a number of things including, but not limited to, trauma, aging, neurological and congenital issues. In this case a blepharoptosis repair is done which is a more involved procedure to repair or adjust the levator muscle. After either surgery most people notice right away that their vision is better and brighter without the interference of heavy, sagging eyelids.

Annual examinations are important for the continuing health of your eyes. Some conditions do require additional testing to help provide you with the best overall treat-ment. Early detection and treatment can help maintain good vision for a lifetime.

It’s Your Govern-ment

The distance peo-ple feel from their own government is one of the big-gest frustrations for constituents. While the government of-fi cials need to reach

out to the people, people also need to know how to reach out to their Representatives.

Here are some suggestions of Do’s and Don’ts when it comes to communicating with elected offi cials.

Do’s: Establish a Rapport.Scheduling a meeting with your legisla-

tor is a great way to get to know them and

communicate your concerns. Typically, we receive approximately 1,200 emails per week during legislative session. While all communication on issues tabulated and we try to respond to specifi c questions (not rhetorical), the most helpful ones we are searching for look like this: Someone in the district, that we know, that has a good grasp of the subject and are suggesting a solution. Offering a solution to a challenge and your willingness to help bring the solution builds partnership.

Don’t: Don’t Be DisrespectfulElected Offi cials represent constituents

with many divergent views and you don’t need to disparage the recipient of the mes-sage to make your case. Don’t communi-cate with rage, a reasonable person always

Florida House of Representatives

DENNIS K. BAXLEYmakes a more convincing argument. Accu-satory statements that start with “you” or “you think” seldom end up in a good place. Finally, don’t quit communicating when something matters. The more helpful the in-formation shared, the better when making a decision. Also remember that a typical state legislator may vote 1,200 to 1,400 times in committee votes, procedural votes, amend-ment votes and fl oor votes. Don’t write them off on one vote and don’t project motives of

others. Just make the best case for the posi-tions you care about.

A perfect opportunity to talk with and hear from your legislator is at the Delega-tion Meeting on Monday, October 28th at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion from 1:00pm-6:00pm. Always make a little time for public policy.

PAIN2Last month we

began a discus-sion on pain. We defi ned what pain is, how hard it is to describe, and the many expensive and potentially dan-gerous ways most people deal with

their pain. The problem with most pain is that your body secretes endorphins and en-kephalins in response to injury to curb the pain and if the injury is not severe enough,

DR. DULGARthe pain may go away, but not the resulting insult to the tissues. This can fester over the years and result in more severe problems as you age. It is much like the effects of the sun on your skin – it is cumulative – you don’t just wake up one day with skin cancer. It has taken years for the harmful effects of ultraviolet, etc. to take its toll.

This is also true with many musculoskel-etal injuries. To give an example, traditional medical care states that over 80% of the population will eventually develop low back problems and when you do, many times the pain will go away in a week or two on its own. This is absurd! First of all, the reason

why 80% of the population will develop low back pain is because they never take care of their back to begin with. Think about it! You take care of your teeth, hair, face, in fact your whole front side, but how often do you get your back checked to keep it in “good running order”. Or, even worse, you do all those things over the years that set the stage for back problems, like lifting too heavy a load or lifting improperly, being overweight, improper exercising (bowling is not good exercise; golf is good for the “psyche” by getting outside, but is not exercise; running, especially distance, is great for the cardio-vascular system, but deadly for your muscu-loskeletal system), not exercising at all, poor posture, poor chairs and beds, life’s stresses not being resolved, etc.

So we go around thinking we are “healthy” when we have no pain. But this is not true, FOR THE ABSENCE OF PAIN DOES NOT EQUAL HEALTH, much like the fact that you don’t feel pain when you fi rst develop a cavity in your teeth. It takes time for it to fi nally affect a nerve that will eventually causes you pain. The purpose of pain is that of a warning system to let you know that you have a problem that needs to be taken care of. What about the old ad-age “no pain, no gain?” Pain can be a great

motivator, either to avoid it, or overcome it, as sometimes we learn our greatest lessons from the painful experiences of life, whether they be caused by physical, psychological, emotional, or spiritual insult to our body.

As pain relates to chiropractic care, I recently read a recent report in the medi-cal journal SPINE (Spine; 4.15.2013) titled “Adding chiropractic manipulative therapy to standard medical care for patients with acute low back pain”. It found that for pa-tients with low back pain, the addition of chiropractic care to standard medical care offered greater than a four-fold increase in patients whose pain and disability was “completely gone, much better or moder-ately better.” This study demonstrates that chiropractic can promote cost-effective and clinically effi cient outcomes for musculosk-eletal conditions.

So I ask you as we go into the Thanksgiv-ing season, give thanks for your many bless-ings this year, as you should all year long. If you do suffer from sort of pain, whether it be physical, psychological, emotional, or spiri-tual, know that you can overcome it and let it make you stronger. For fi re can burn down a house or forge steel. Let us through proper hands-on chiropractic care assist you in your effort to be the steel that you can be!

Tom...Thanks for your piece “Governor Sets

He_ _! Every day gets worse. The Republi-cans and the Democrats are like two spoiled brats fi ghting over who get’s what. There is no one worse than Reid and Pelosi (read it after you sign it) and Boehner, McConnell and McCain of course they all come after the arrogant, petulant bad tempered Presi-dent. Yes you should respect the offi ce of

the President but you do not have to respect the man when he is consistently wrong.

We need to clear out all the mothballs, crooks and shady characters in this adminis-tration; we have income tax evaders to down right embezzlers. Why do we continue to pay people who are supposedly fi red and then fi nd they have just been moved around? Government shut down and people laid off then receive unemployment and then get back pay?? It just goes on and on.

Congress needs fresh blood, there are young people out there that want Our Amer-ica back and are willing to fi ght for it. These old senators and the rest of them are self-ish and greedy; they have forgotten they are supposed to represent the PEOPLE.

They all should have to have the same laws apply to them that apply to us including

health care and that goes right on up to the President. The President’s vacation should never overshadow his richest voters unless he is using his own money.

This country is broke and he keeps spend-ing. We send billions of dollars to countries that burn our fl ag and spit upon us. Our gov-ernment and our churches send tons of mon-ey and food to other countries when we can’t feed or shelter our own people here. Wake up America and Americans we need to put this country back on the map. We should close all our borders until we are fi nancially sound again then and only then open them and enforce our immigration laws.

We have illegal aliens here who vote and seem to have more say about our Govern-ment than we do. When is the madness go-ing to stop?

I don’t know who started all this Politi-cal Correctness but I hope they enjoy what it has reaped, a bunch of whining, thin skinned people. This is our Country and if you do not like it here go home and change your country to the way you want it. Yes I believe we need a good woman to run the country but that is not Hillary Clinton there would not be much difference than what we have now.

Fast & Furious, Benghazi, IRS snoops, NSA snoops and I am sure there is much more. Outside of sexual misconduct has there ever been such corruption in our over staffed government. We need to re-introduce ethics and morality into government.

God Bless America!P. L.

Q-”Should we bring our military home from Iraq & Afghanistan?”-YES!

Q-”Should we be able to force our elected representatives, from the President on down, to resign if they don’t vote they way they promised in their campaign?”-YES!

Q-”Should our government have ‘Obama Care’ (Cheap Health Insurance) and deny it for the rest of us?” - NO!

The list goes on and on. But the way I see it, if you want to know the ‘Will-of-the-

“USA Inc”. It shows all you’d ever want to know about the sorry condition of the econ-omy in the USA.

It’s a “pretend” public corporation for the ‘ownership’ of the United States.

-It’s very lengthy (over 400 pages) com-piled by several experts including former Treasury Secretary George Schultz, former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker and his close associate Richard Ravitch.

-It’s way too complicated for my less-

than-average intellect, but it seems to say that we’re ‘in- the-red’ every year by well over a $1 trillion. This equates to over $11,000 per household).

-More than 35% of the USA population of about 310 million receives our tax-dollars.

Add to that the fact that it reported that average federal wages & benefi ts are 100% higher than private industry – wages are 58% higher and benefi ts are 3 times higher.

-The Heritage Foundation says that fed-eral wages & benefi ts are 31% higher than private industry.

-Even a 1% tax rate increase would only generate about $127 billion nowhere near enough to balance-the-budget - never mind paying off the National Debt.

-To eliminate the defi cit we’d need to in-crease tax rates by as much as 12 percent ((raising about $1.4 trillion)

-While 80% of Americans say that bal-ancing the budget is important only 12% would be for cutting Medicare or Social Se-curity.

-Is there a real solution? The fact is there is no answer because, the government, re-

gardless of which party is in power, will never give ‘Power-To-The-People’.

-And ‘The People’ are too disconnected and uninterested in the future to demand the right to be heard.

-But, in fact, there is a fair, just and equal taxation method - a simple ‘transfer tax’ with NO EXCEPTIONS.

-The world fi nancial system is suffi cient-ly ‘computerized’ that there would be virtu-ally no administration costs in a universal ‘Transaction Tax’ which is remitted directly to the Treasury from the remitter or recipi-ent.

-Simply put, every time funds or values are transferred, for any reason, by any en-tity, by any method, the Treasury would au-tomatically receive the percentage.

Maybe as little as .0001%.Savings are not taxed.Only those who spend, pay!The people who are reaping the most

benefi ts from our society would pay the most – whereas, under our current system, they seem to pay the least.

Taking Diabetes on the RoadTV Celebrity Chef, Charles Mattocks,

widely known as “The Poor Chef,” is about to hit the road for the second part of his hugely successful RV tour across America. There is one thing you will notice straight away when you meet Charles – his captivat-ing charm, enthusiasm and buzzing passion for what is taking him on this mission – his desire to be the voice for a people so close to his heart – diabetics, pre-diabetics and those trapped in a ever decreasing circle of healthy options to manage a disease that has reached global proportions!

After fi rst making his name on the Dr Oz Show by creating healthy yet affordable meals for under seven dollars, his passion for everyday good nutrition took the na-tion by storm, leading to appearances on The Today Show, Good Morning America, Dr. Oz, Martha Stewart and CNN. Further, he has taken his passion to paper, penning a best-selling cook book, “Eat Cheap But Eat Well”, and more recently this year a wonderfully fun and educational book es-pecially for children and parents, “Diabetes and Healthy Eating”, which helps take the scary part out of dealing with diabetes for our kids. But there’s so much more to this Chef – like his famous uncle, the late, great Bob Marley, Charles is a champion for social change, and amid his media success Charles was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2011. What seemed initially like a death sentence turned into a personal mission to not only save his life, but also save the lives of others who shared his diagnosis. His awareness of this growing problem was only heightened when he had discussions with friends such as rap star Shorty Low, who was hospital-ized for diabetes twice. “Are you worried?” asked Charles, but, despite its seriousness, the disturbing answer was “no”. Concerned by this complacent attitude, Charles became increasingly emotionally connected with people and families whose lives were greatly impacted by a condition that seemed to eas-ily spiral out of control – and these people were feeling trapped with no real solutions!

Spurred on by this, his mission has taken him across the world – with nutrition and pol-lution being global issues today, we see that some disease has no boundaries. Charles’ passion has seen him travel as far away as India and the Caribbean, and on these trips he has been motivated to make a fi lm to edu-cate and inspire diabetics around the world to make changes to their health by stressing good nutrition, lifestyle changes and rais-

ing “glutathione” to control infl ammation. Charles has just returned from Jamaica where he has been fi lming with friends and family to be included in his upcoming re-ality TV Show “Reversed”, where we will follow people dealing with the stresses and struggles of these health challenges. This October will see Charles leaving Florida at the start of his second DiabetesTesting RV Tour, having teamed up with some great sponsors such as Great West Vans, Heal To-gether, Syntra 5 and Immunotec. Stops will include schools, hospitals and clinics where he and his team of professionals will answer questions about health and nutrition, discuss management options and also leave you with gift bags and maybe a bit more hope than you had at the start of the day – a big part of his message is that a diabetic does have options, and education is the key!

Not only to do the people of diabetes now have someone with a big heart and a generous spirit on their side, but also a great spokesperson for them in the medical and world arena with Charles representing the American Diabetes Association, a Blue Ribbon Champion for the International Dia-betes Federation, the creator of the Charles Bar, a diabetic-friendly nutrition bar. We encourage you strongly to grab your kids, come down and meet Charles personally on his tour stops and learn how to protect your-selves and your children – let some of his enthusiasm and fun rub off on you!

Through inspiration and education as a result of the RV Tour , TV shows and ap-pearances, it is Charles’ hope that over 250,000,000 people will get tested for dia-betes, as well as learn effective tools to man-age diet and lifestyle. His movie “The Dia-betic You” which is in the closing stages of fi lming, is designed to grab your attention – it starts with a man with no teeth (later you see him being fi tted with a beautiful new smile), but the point is made that if we do not educate ourselves about diet and nutri-tion, this can happen to us too!

The world of diabetes needs a superhero, and Charles is up for the challenge – we en-courage you to support him has he makes his way across the country, and tour dates can be found at http://diabeticyourvtour.com. More support sites include www.charles-mattocks.com and http://www.immunotec.com/thepoorchef

down. Not so. My insurance costs went up signifi cantly. I know people who lost their insurance totally and now have to scramble to get another. People can’t sign up for in-surance online because the system can’t han-dle it. Some doctors won’t accept the new insurance. Then what about the people who are now forced to work part time instead of full time, when they could hardly make it on the full time pay because the company they work for can’t or won’t pay the insurance premiums. Federal inspectors who do safety

(Continued from Page 1) inspections of planes, pilots and aircraft re-pair have been furloughed. Makes you feel real safe if you have to travel. All national parks and monuments are closed. So much for your planned vacation. Food safety in-spections are suspended. How many food borne outbreaks will occur because inspec-tions of facilities has stopped? The list goes on and on. The arrogance of the President, the House and the Senate in not negotiating is outrageous.
