The Mont-Blanc carried 2400 tonnes of explosives
Much of Halifax was destroyed:
2000 killed, 9000 injured, thousands left homeless
The explosion was heard more than 300 km away

Germany is able to pull 600 000 soldiers and move them from to the Western Front.
HOWEVER,
the U.S. joins the allied forces around the same time.

August 8th: Currie leads an attack on Amiens gaining 13km in one day
September 27th: Under machine gun fire engineers build bridges and ladders and within hours are able to cross Canal Nord
This creates a route for weapons and supplies to reach troops
October 11th: Canadians take Cambrai advancing 37 km into German territory

November 10th: Mons, Belgium
November 11th, 11:00 am: Armistice Truce becomes official and fighting ends.
Armistice: A truce, or an agreement between countries to end hostilities.
