a. Punishment peace, conflicting views
i. Wilson wanted self-determination and league of nations, as
well as the 14 points
ii. Lloyd George, Clemenceau wanted Germany to pay, wanted money
to pay
back war debts
iii. Orlando wanted Austria-Hungary lands, promised to him by
Britain and France
b. Clauses
i. War Guilt Clause, Germany is the sole cause of the war, they
must pay all war
reparations.
ii. Could not unite with Austria, ceded land to France and other
nations
iii. Limited Germany Army and Navy, no Air Force
iv. Created Nations such as Poland, the baltic regions,
Czechoslovakia, Latvia,
Lithuania, Estonia,, Austria and Hungary split, Yugoslavia
formed,
self-determination, only applied to Europe
v. League of Nations formed, Early U.N.
1. Union where the Coalition would intervene if wars would break
out
2. Put forth by U.S, but Congress does not ratify it
