Universitarios de Córdoba 2014. Tras comenzar el día con una

contundente victoria ante India por 4-1, en la jornada vespertina

conseguían una

fantástica remontada

encuentro comenzó

con la victoria del

Alejandro Toro-Haidee Ojeda, victoria que contrarrestó acto seguido

India con la victoria de Singh ante Adrián Corrales en dos sets. A

continuación llegó el vendaval español con victorias consecutivas del

dobles masculinos de Alejandro Toro-Javier Sánchez, el individual

femenino de Manuela Díaz y el dobles femeninos de Laura Molina-

Haidee Ojeda. Esta victoria daba el pase a España a la disputa de la

fase del 9º al 12º puesto. En la lucha por alcanzar la 9ª plaza el primer

rival era la selección de Canadá. Tras un buen inicio de Canadá que

se puso 2-0 al borde del triunfo, España sacaba la garra que ha

demostrado a lo largo el torneo e igualaba el encuentro a dos merced

a las victorias del dobles masculinos de Alejandro Toro-Javier

Sánchez y el individual femenino de Manuela Díaz. Todo quedaba a

expensas del dobles femeninos donde Laura Molina-Haidee Ojeda

completaban la remontada venciendo en dos cómodos sets a So-

Kwok. De esta manera, España luchará en la jornada del sábado

ante Rusia por conseguir la novena posición del Campeonato.

Mañana sábado finaliza la competición por equipos con la lucha por

las medallas. Cumpliendo con los pronósticos China y Corea del Sur

se han clasificado por sus respectivos lados del cuadro para

semifinales tras ganar por idéntico marcador de 3-0 ante Suiza y

Alemania del Sur, respectivamente. De esa manera se postulan

como favoritos al título, aunque no lo tendrán fácil para medirse en la

final ya que China, ante China-Taipei, y Corea del Sur, ante Malasia,

tendrán enfrente a dos equipos que están completando una gran

competición.

closed the team

India (4 - 1). The

encounter started

with the triumphof

mixed double formed

by Alejandro Toro

and Haidee Ojeda.

After that, their

success was counteracted by India when Singh beat Andrián

Corrales in two sets. Later, the Spanish team won consecutively the

men double (Alejandro Toro and Javier Sánchez), women single

(Manuela Díaz) and women double (Laura Molina and Haidee

Ojeda). Thus, this victory allows Spain the opportunity of playing for

the 9th to 12th position.

In their battle for getting the 9th position, their first rival was the

Canadian Team. After a excellent starting of Canada (2 - 0), Spain

revived and levelled the playing field to two of the possible victories of

men double with Alejandro Toro and Javier Sánchez, and the women

single with Manuel Díaz. Everything remained at expense of the

women double where Laura Molina and Haidee Ojeda completed the

recovery defeating So and Kwok in two comfortable sets. Accordingly,

Spain will play on Saturday against the Russian Federation in order to

compete for the ninth position in the Championship.

Tomorrow Saturday the fight over the medals for the Team

Competition will end up. All the forecasts were fulfilled when china

and South Korea classified in their respective draws for the semifinals

after winning with the same scores 3 – 0 against Switzerland and

Germany, respectively. As a result, they nominated themselves as

favourites for the title, although it won't be a piece of cakesince

Chinese Taipei and Malaysia are playing a prodigious competition.
