Wherever you are transferring from, fantastic opportunities await you at Wichita State University.

One of those opportunities is specialized housing tailored to the incoming transfer student experi-ence. The residence halls have two different transfer communities, Wheatshocker Apartments and Brennan Hall.

Both communities focus on easing your transition to WSU with activities to connect you with other students and the campus. Since each community is in a different hall, you can mix and match building styles and amenities to find the place that is right for you.

Brennan Hall

Brennan Hall, a three-unit complex, was constructed as a men’s dormitory to accommodate the influx of students the University experienced following World War II. The north unit was occupied in 1953, followed by the middle and south units in 1962.

Wheatshocker Apartments

In the fall of 1994, WSU President Eugene Hughes proposed buying the apartments to “make a new building out of an old building.” With an invest-ment of about $11.6 million in revenue bonds, the university gutted the six-story, U-shaped building and replaced virtually everything. The first phase of renovation was completed by the fall 1996 se-mester. It is now a prime housing option for sopho-mores, married students and single-parent students with no more than two children.

IMAGINE THE DIFFERENCE

Did you know... Residence Hall Fast Facts for 2012-2013

• Wichita State houses approximately 1,300 undergraduate students in 3 on-campus residence halls located throughout all areas of campus. There are 2 traditional residence halls and 1 apartment-style halls that are reserved for upper-class students.

• Residence halls are co-educational and range in size from 100 to 620 residents. Students residing in traditional residence halls are housed in rooms and on floors/wings according to gender. Apartment units are suite style units with same gender occupying both sides of the suite.

• Freshman students are housed in Brenna and Fairmount Hall: Freshmen residents are assigned to units within Brennan Hall and Fairmount Towers.

Transfer students can live anywhere on campus, but those who live in our transfer communities love it. They have all the conveniences of living on campus plus the benefit of living with others who can relate to the transfer student experience. We are proud of our transfer communities, and we hope you will consider calling them home next year.Apply Today:Contact the Housing and Residence Life department today to start your journey into a new community....Housing & Residence Life loctated at 1845 Fairmount, Box 141, Wichita, KS 67260-0141Call us at 316-978-3693 or email: [email protected] housing application located at: http://webs.wichita.edu/?u=housing&p=/Forms_and_Newsletters/ Online_Application/
