WSHS Alumni Term 1 2021 WELCOME 2021 Welcome to our first newsletter for the year. It was quite an eventful start to the Term, where schools had extended their holiday period by one week due to WA COVID-19 Lockdown. The first whole school assembly was held as we welcomed our Year 7s and many other new students. Our student numbers continue to grow and the total enrolment for start of the year is 2,592 students across Years 7 through 12. Willetton was again successful in our 2020 WACE and ATAR results. WACE attainment was 99.5% or 389 out of the 391 eligible students. Our school placed 4 th with the top median ATAR for public schools. Three of our students scored the maximum ATAR of 99.95. Congratulations to all our 2020 students for their achievements and awards. Term 1 2021

WELCOME 2021 Welcome to our first newsletter for the year.

Our school placed 4th with the top median ATAR for public schools. Three of our students scored the maximum ATAR of 99.95. Congratulations to all our 2020 students for their achievements and awards.

The Willo Dad’s group, as part of The Fathering Project, aim to help the fathers and father figures of WSHS connect with each other, and share their experiences of bringing up teenagers. WHERE ARE THEY NOW

Introducing

Michaela

Sharkey…

What year did

you graduate?

I graduated in

2014

What is your greatest achievement after high school? Moving to the other side of the world to pursue my nursing career and unexpectedly ending up on the front-line during Covid-19.

Was there one moment you

remember in high school that

has stayed with you? The Year

11/12 2013 New Zealand Ski Trip. It

was the first time I saw snow and

was such an incredible holiday

with my school friends.

Have you continued with your

studies – if so what? I completed

my Bachelor of Nursing at the

University of Notre Dame in 2018.

I would definitely consider

furthering my nursing studies in

the future.

Where do you live and what is

your occupation? I live in

Aberdeen, a city in the North East

of Scotland and I am a Cardiology

Nurse for the UK’s National

Health Service working in the

main acute hospital of Aberdeen.

I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the supportive and motivating teachers and staff at Willetton SHS.

WILLO WARRIORS RELAY FOR LIFE

Relay for Life has a long-standing tradition of a 24 hour walkathon to raise awareness and money towards Cancer Research.

This year, Relay for Life Perth is celebrating 20 years of walkathons and the last year of the Perth event before moving to the bigger and better event of Relay for Life West Coast.

We would like to make the last one an event to remember. The Willo Warriors are back and our Year 11 and 12 students are taking part in the walkathon at Claremont Showgrounds on the 1 and 2 of May.

Willetton Senior High School and the Willo Warriors have been involved with the Relay for Life Perth event since 2007 and it has become a yearly tradition. A highly emotional event for all who participate, and their band of supporters.

There are many ways you can be involved in this worthwhile event, and we appreciate your support. More information for this event will follow.

The team page can be accessed via the link; https://secure.fundraising.cancer.org.au/site/TR/RelayforLife/CCWA?fr_id=6455&pg=entry
