Summer story based on the Poem ‘Hour’ by Carol Ann Duffy Maryam Jamshidi Although I’m a far from them, I can hear the faint sound of parents shouting as the children are laughing interruptedly. The graceful summer breeze danced around my skin and whispered in my ears even though it was barely heard with the rattling of each leaf. Colossal trees surrounded me with their brittle bark and bottle green leaves. So grand, like it was touching the sky, yet it never prevented you from seeing the creamy cotton pillows in the astonishing cerulean sky. Beautifully vivid, variegated and multi- coloured plants surrounded me, releasing a delicately sweet smell that lingered in the air. The grass field was completely ravishing in its emerald colour as beams of the fiery sun reflected off each grass blade. In the distance, I could see a girl wearing a rose garland headband resting on her curly golden blonde hair which bounced with every step she took. The sky slowly became cloudless as she came closer to me. There was slight tension in between us, yet all was stopped as I gave a welcoming wave. She looked angelic as the sun shone on her like a spotlight. She started to sprint towards me with eager eyes. It’s as if she knows our time is limited together. Just like me, she was wearing loose fitted and comfortable clothes. Hand in hand, we walked for a bit, in silence, kissing for a thousand seconds. Soon, we ended up lying on the cool ground, next to each other. Still holding hands, I could feel our blood rushing through our veins.

Soon, we ended up lying on the cool ground, next to each other. Still holding hands, I could feel our blood rushing through our veins. Gradually, the clouds began to patch the sky. The sun was slowly starting to set, and before we knew it, the clouds were cleared once again as the darkness filled the sky with gloom. Sparkling like glitter, the stars were gently scattered across the heavens above us. My times up. I tell her. My eyes shut, I lay there cold with no more pulse in my veins, fighting for breath, my last words being I love you to the love of my life. Even though time hates love and wants love poor, love spins gold from straw. Love really did add beauty to everything, including to this grass ditch surrounded with lifeless plants.
