Format of EssayFormat of Essay• Introduction: Attention Grabber, 2 pieces of

background of information, thesis statement

• Body paragraph 1, 2, and 3: Topic Sentence/statement, proof, commentary, transition

• Closing: Restate main idea of each paragraph, restate thesis, closing sentence.

• Topic sentences: The sentence that starts off each paragraph. They let the reader know what the paragraph will be about. They are the three reasons that come from your thesis.

• A transition sentence is a sentence that prepares the reader for what the next paragraph will be about.
