Other Lesson will be continuing over several days/weeks Many students experience test anxiety, this activity gives them practice and builds confidence, and assures them they are not alone in their anxiety. Students need practice with time pressure due to the GED Essay being limited to 45 min. Initial prompts should be brief to get students thinking on their feet. GED Essay, Workplace, and/or Life Skill Related Prompts “World No Tobacco Day” is celebrated on May 31st around the world. Persuade someone to stop smoking or to stop using chewing tobacco. Explain to them the dangers of tobacco products.

Books, movies, and television can offer opportunities to learn valuable lessons. Write about a lesson learned from a book, movie, or television show that proved to be of value to you.

If you could make one positive change to your daily life, what would that change be? In your essay, identify the change you would make. Explain the reasons for your choice.

We all experience stressful times in our lives. In an essay, name three strategies you use to overcome stress and explain how they help you.

Compare or contrast the person you are now with the person you were five or ten years ago. If your essay, explain how you have changed.

Why do people continue doing things that are bad for them, even when there is clear evidence that these activities are harmful? In your essay, give reasons for this behavior.

Think of something you have done that brought you satisfaction, pleasure, or a sense of accomplishment. Write about that activity or event and tell why it sticks in your mind.

Think of a person you have known who has been important to you. Describe why he or she made such an impression on you or made a difference in your life.

Not all drivers pass their driver's test the first time. Many require two, or even three tries. Create a piece of writing that could become a how-to brochure for new drivers: How to Pass Your Driver's Test.

What is your view on the idea that there is no ‘I’ in ‘team’? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

What is your view of the statement that the customer is really the boss? Do customers have the ability to fire members of the company? In an essay, support your position by discussing an example (or examples) from your work experience with customers or with companies that have provided services to you. Everyone has responsibilities. Write a paper explaining a responsibility you have now or will have in the future and why you shoulder that responsibility.
