© FFG I Austrian Research Promotion Agency I www.ffg.at
Standard rule – applied to outgoing host: must not have resided / worked / studied in the country of the outgoing host (located in the third country) for more than 12 months in the 3 years before the deadline
Example: a GF with Austria and Canada, then check if you fulfil the rule towards Canada (and not Austria)
Next IF call deadlines11 September 20199 September 2020
Overall duration 2-3 years, split in two phases:
1-2 years in Third Country = outgoing phase
1 year in „Europe“ (MS/AC) = return phase

The researcher’s nationality is relevant: if not a national from „Europe“ (MS/AC), then „long-term resident“ (5 years) in „Europe“
MOBILITY RULEGLOBAL FELLOWSHIP (GF)

• Have a picture of where you stand and how you want to develop yourself with the project
• Think early about your ideal supervisor(s) –the ideal research group
• Check your eligibility for the type of fellowship and the mobility rule – if unclear: contact NCP
• If ok: get in touch with your ideal host, if they support your idea
• Once decided – don’t wait and start developing your project proposal

targeted at the general public to create awareness among the general public about the project and its results, implications for citizens and society
done in a way that can be understood by non-specialists
for the researcher to understand better public concern and interest
Examples

How will you communicate your
project & results to the wider public? Check with your host: Are
there some nice traditional formats, media which can
be of use for you? Is there practical support
from the institution?
DISSEMINATION & COMMUNICATION THINK ABOUT IT & CHECK WITH YOUR HOST
How will you disseminate &
exploit your project results to the
scientific community?
Be specific: to whom, how &
how often?

No indication in the template on the no. of pages per section – but keep in mind the weighting:
Excellence 50%
Impact 30%
Implementation 20%
Excellence1.1+1.2 vs 1.3+1.4
Impact Implementation
5 (3,5/1,5) 2 3

Think of the main 10 pages (section 1-3) as a whole text, to read from start to end (not jumping around)
Say all you have to say in the text – not on text outside the proposal (via hyperlink)
Find a suitable title and a catchy acronym for your project
Take the reader on board in the introduction – show relevance, state of the art and objectives

CLEAR VISUAL IMPRESSION
Mind minimum standards (font size / max characters per page). Use legible fonts.
See Guide for Applicants
Keep visual impression simple and calm. Not many different fonts, styles, not to much highlighting and be consistent in what you have chosen
© FFG I Austrian Research Promotion Agency I www.ffg.at
HOW TO STAY WITHIN 10 PAGES …
If possible: present your research (methodology and approach) under section 1 already along WPs – less space needed under section 3
If you run out of space (with minimum font size etc.): be critical to your draft –are there redundancies?
Keep subchapters at a reasonable level; use bold headlines in the beginning of a paragraph instead of headlines above –gives structure, but needs less space than classical headlines next slide

KEEP DESCRIPTION CONSISTENT AND CLEAR
Make sure that tables or figures are embedded in the text –mention them!
Consistency in terminology, i.e., what is called a workshop in the section 1, should be recognizable as workshop in chapter 3.
Be critical to figures – are they easily understandable? Do they contribute to the description?
