When I point to them they will say one thing they are really good at or know a lot about. They must wait at a level 0 and if they yell out, they will not get the chance to share. State Lesson Objective & Lesson Agenda SWBAT create a list of topics to write about for an informational book. Students will be brainstorming topics that they consider themselves “experts” on so that they can write an informational book about the subject. “I Do” Input (1-2 Key teaching points): Check for Understanding: I will explain that they just shared with me something that they know a lot about and we are all good at a lot of things. I will model for students how to create a brainstorming list. I will explain that we have brainstormed before and this is what good writers do to begin their writing process. I will think aloud and explain that I know a lot about volleyball, softball, basketball, shopping, and cooking. My list will be generated on an anchor chart. Students will be seated on the carpet at a level 0 with hands in their laps and participating when called upon. Objective(s) SWBAT: create a list of topics to write about for an informational book. “We Do” Guided Practice: Check for Understanding: Students will help me generate a list of things that they are “experts” on. We will title the list “Room 103’s got the info on…” Students will be seated on the carpet at a level 0 with their hands in their laps. Students will be cold called to provide one topic that they can write an informational book about.
