Special Stitches

Popcorn: Work 5 tr into stated stitch. Remove hook, insert

through top of 1st and 5th tr. Yarn over and pull through, slip stitch.

Beginning Treble Cluster: Ch3 3, yo, insert hook through same st

at base of ch, yo, draw loop trough twice, o and pull through all

loops on hook.

Treble Cluster: Yo, hook through stated stich, draw through loop,

3 times. Yo, draw loop through all 7 loops.

Before you begin...

When working Rounds 26 – 40, ensure that the right side is facing

you, and the first stitch of each round falls in the top of the

previous round, in the far left corner.

Commence Pattern:

Chain 4, join to first chain with a slip stitch.

Round 1:

Ch3, 2 tr into ring, ch 2, 3 tr into ring.

Round 2:

Turn, ch3, 2 tr (into stitch at base of chain 3), ch1.

3tr, ch2, 3tr into 2 ch space.

Ch1, 3tr into top of last tr from previous round.

Round 3:

Turn, ch3, 2tr (into stitch at base of chain 3), ch1.

3tr into next ch1 space, ch1.

3 tr, ch2, 3trb into 2ch space.

Ch1, 3tr into next ch1 space, ch1, 3tr into top of last tr from previous round.

Round 4 – 25:

Repeat Round 3, placing 3 tr into each ch1 space, and 3tr, ch2, 3tr into central 2 ch space of

each round. Fasten off.

In each of the next round we will work with the right side facing, beginning each round in the top

left corner.

Round 26:

With new colour, slst into top of first tr from previous round. Ch3 (counts as first tr), 1 tr

into next 2 stitches, 1tr into ch1 space. *1tr into next 3 stitches, 1tr into ch1 space*.

Repeat from * to * until mid-point, 1tr, 2ch, 1 tr into 2ch space.

Repeat from * to * to end.

Fasten off. (Stitch Count 202 - 200 tr, 2ch)

Round 27:

With new colour, slst into top of tr from Round 26. Ch2 (counts as first htr).

*Bp htr into each stitch across* until mid-point. Work 1 htr, 2ch, 1htr into 2ch space.

Repeat from * to * to end

Fasten off. (Stitch Count 204 – 202 htr, 2ch)

Round 28:

With new colour, slst into top of first htr from Round 27. Ch4 (counts as first dbtr).

*Dbtr into each stitch across* until mid-point. Work 1dbtr, c2ch, 1dbtr into 2ch space.

Repeat from * to * to end.

Fasten off. (Stitch Count 206 – 204dtr, 2ch)

Round 29:

With new colour, slst into top of first dbtr from Round 28. Ch3 (counts as first tr), tr in each

of next 4 stitches. Popcorn st in next stitch, don’t forget the slst after closure.

*Tr in each of next 5 stitches, 1 popcorn* 14 times. 1tr in each of next 6 stitches. Work 1tr,

2ch, 1tr into c2 space.

1tr into each of next 6 stitches, 1 popcorn. Repeat from * to * 15 times, omitting last

popcorn.

Fasten off. (Stitch Count 208 – 32 popcorn, 174 trb, 2ch)

Round 30:

With new colour, slst into top of first tr from Round 29. Ch3 (counts as first tr), fptr around

next 4 stitches. Hdc in slst at the top of next popcorn.

*Fptr around next 5 stitches, 1hdc into slst at the top of next popcorn* 15 times. 1 fptr

around next 7 stitches. 1tr, 2ch, 1tr into 2 chain space. Fptr around next 7 stitches.

Repeat from *to* 15 times. Fptr in next 4 stitches, tr into final stitch.

Fasten off. (Stitch Count 210 in 2ch)

Round 31:

With new colour, slst into top of first tr from Round 30. Ch2 (counts as first dc). Dc in each

stitch across. 1dc, 2ch, 1dc in 2ch space. Dc in each stitch across.

Fasten off. (Stitch Count 212 inc 2ch)

Round 32:

With new colour, slst into top of first dc from Round 3. Beg tr cluster in same stitch.

*2ch, sk next 2 stitches, 1tr cluster into next stitch* 35 times. Ch2, sk next 2 stitches, 1tr,

2ch, 1tr into 2 ch space.

Repeat from *to* 35 times – last tr cluster should fall nto last stitch from Round 31.

Fasten off. (Stitch Count 214 inc 2ch)

Round 33:

With new colour, slst into top of tr cluster from Round 32. Ch2 (counts as first htr), 2htr into

2ch space. *1htr into top of tr cluster, 2htr into 2ch space* 34 times. 2htr into next 2ch

space, 1 htr into top on next tr. Work 1htrb, 2ch, 1htr into 2ch space.

1htr into top of next tr, *2htr into next 2ch space, 1htr into next tr cluster* 35 times.

Round 34:

With new colour, slst into top of first htr from Round 33. Ch3 (counts as first tr). 1tr into

each sticth across. Work 1tr, 2ch, 1tr into 2ch space. 1tr into each stitch across.

Fasten off. (Stitch Count 218 inc 2ch)

Round 35:

With new colour, slst into top of first tr from Round 35. Ch2 (counts as first htr). 1tr into

next st, 1dbtr into next sticth, 1tr into next stitch, 1 htr into next stitch – this forms your first

ripple.

Across the next 5 stitches *1htr, 1tr, 1dbtr, 1tr, 1htr* 19 times. In next 3 stitches, 1htr, 1tr,

1dbtr. Work 1tr,2ch, 1tr into 2ch space.

In next 3 stitches 1dbtr, 1trb, 1htr. Repeat from *to* 21 times.

Fasten off. (Stitch Count 220 inc 2ch)

Round 36:

With new colour, slst into top of first htr from Round 36. Ch4 (counts as first dbtr)1tr into

next sitch, 1htr into next stitch, 1tr into next sticth, 1dtr into next sticth.

Across the next 5 stitches work *1dbtr, 1tr, 1htr, 1tr, 1dbtr* 20 times. In next 4 stitches

work 1dbtr, 1tr, 1htb, 1tr. Work 1tr, 2ch, 1tr into 2ch space.

Across next 4 stitches work 1tr, 1htr, 1tr, 1dbtr. Repeat from *to* 21 times.

Fasten off. (Stitch Count 222 inc 2ch)

Round 37:

With new colour, slst into first dbtr from Round 36. Ch 2 (counts as first dc). 1dc in each

stitch across until mid-point. 1dc 2ch, 1dc into 2ch space. 1dc in each sticth across.

Round 38:

With new colour, slst into top of first dc from Round 37. Ch3 (counts as first tr, 1tr in next 2

stitches. *1tr cluster in next stitch, 1tr in next 3 stitches* 27 times. Work 1tr,2 ch, 1 tr in ch2

space.

1tr in next 3 stitches, repeat from *to* 27 times.

Fasten off.

Round 39:

With new colour, slst to top of first tr from Round 38. 1trb in next 2 stitches. *1 fp htr

around top of tr cluster, 1 tr in next 3 stitches* 27 times. Work 1tr, 2ch, 1tr in 2ch space.

1tr in next 3 stitches. Repeat from *to* 27 times.

Fasten off.

Round 40:

With main colour that formed Rounds 1-25, join with slst to first tr from Round 39. Ch3, 2trb

in same stitch. *ch1, sk2st, 3trs in next stitch* 37 times. Ch1, sk next stitch, work 3tr,ch2, 3tr

in 2ch space.

Ch1, sk next stitch. Repeat from * to * 37 times.

Rounds 41 – 45:

Turn, ch3, 2 tr in same stitch. Ch1, 3trs in next ch1 space across, working 3tr, 2ch, 3tr in

central 2ch space. Repeat from * to * to end.

Round 46:

Continuing in base colour, turn. Ch2 (counts as first dc). Dc in next sticth, dc in next ch1

space. *dc in next 3 stitches, 1dc in chain 1 space*. Work 1dc, 2ch, 1dc in 2ch space.

Repeat from * to * end.

Fasten off.

Round 47:

With new colour and with right side facing you, slst into top of first dc from Round 46 (in

left corner). Ch3 (counts as first tr), 3tr in same stitch. *sk next 2 sticthes, 1dc in next st, sk

next 2 stitches, 7trs in next stitch* all the way around, working 7 trs into central 2ch space.

Fasten off

Round 48:

With base colour, slst into top of 1tr from Round 47. Ch2 (counts as first htr), Bp htr into

each sticth around to end.

Fasten off…..and Ta – Da….all done!!

All thats left to do is to weave in the ends and block. The top line may have a curve which

will straighten out when blocked well.
