Hope Loftis hosted several

programs covering substance

addiction problems,

Christian education, and

faith. Pastor Erik Hines

(Founder, President, and

Executive Director of

Spring to Life) talked about how drug addiction can be a result of basic

human needs being unmet. These needs can be love, affection,

appreciation, and acceptance. The Church needs to remove the stigma of

addiction and show the open arms of Christ to the addicted person. No

matter how many times a person fails, God always forgives. Pastor Erik also talked about his organization and how

it helps people with methamphetamine abuse problems. Meth abuse has become a major issue in Tennessee, with

one reason being that it is a readily available inexpensive drug. At Spring to Life, all counselors have had

addiction problems in their past, but have overcome their addiction through Christ. Jason McCormick (Area

Director, Northern Middle Tennessee Fellowship of Christian Athletes) talked about the spiritual needs of the

student athlete in today’s schools. Their main goal is to spread the message of Jesus Christ to the student

athlete and as the student grows in their faith, they spread that to others. Ray Marin (Accelerated Christian

Eduction) spoke about the benefits of a Christian homeschool education, as well as Christian education being a

proper education for children of all culters. Ray stated that it is the family’s responsibility to teach the children,

with parents being ultimately responsible for the education of their children. With today’s society, some parents

prefer homeschool to public school, as it is a more affordable option that private Christian schools.
