Worship ServicesNovember 26, 2017

8:30 and 11 a.m.6:30 p.m.

The King’s Brass Tim Zimmerman, director

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God

celebrating seven years closer to our perpetual reunion with Michael Joseph Cave, beloved son, brother, and friend.

1 Thessalonians 4:17

WelcomeTo Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on ourwebsite at firstpresaugusta.org. You can also visit our welcome desk in the Welcome Center, located directly behind the sanctuary.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder and his wife will be standing next to the pastor following the service to talk or pray with you.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in ourcare on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newbornsthrough fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, SundaySchool, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Kiosks are available inthe Narthex and in the Children’s Lobby. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers areavailable to assist you.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-K through fourth grade during themorning services. Leaders will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms duringthe hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pickthem up after the service. Children in pre-K through second grade remain in their classroomsuntil they are picked up by a parent.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and SundaySchool. We provide a Mother/Infant Room (room 160) located in the Ebenezer Buildingbehind the sanctuary, and the Geneva Room is designated as a cry room for parents withfussy children. Both rooms are equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushersare available to direct you.

Additional Seating Please see ushers for additional overflow seating.

We are very glad to have you worshiping our gracious God with us today.

The Meditation—Thee Will I Love .....................................................Craig Courtney

Theme: The Kingdom of God

The Prelude—He Leadeth Me ............................................................. arr. Dale Wood

†The Call to Worship .......................................................from 1 Chronicles 29:10b-13Praise be to you, O Lord, God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours.

Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.

Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things.

In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.

Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.

The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

Thee will I love, my strength, my tower,Thee will I love, my joy, my crown!Thee will I love with all my power, In all my works, and thee alone.Thee will I love, till thy pure fire Fills all my soul with chaste desire.

Thee will I love, my joy, my crown, Thee will I love, my Lord, my God!Thee will I love, beneath thy frown or smile,Thy scepter or thy rod. What though my flesh and heart decay?Thee shall I love in endless day!Thee will I love, my Lord, my God!

The Confession of Faith ................................................................. The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell.* The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic** church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

*suffered separation from God**universal

§The Personal Confession of Sin

† Indicates the congregation standing. § Please kneel if able to do so.

Lord Jesus, you taught us that your kingdom is a community that is poor in spirit. But we have been rich in pride. You have taught us to be community that embraces lament But we have not known much sorrow for our sin.You have taught us to be a community of meekness. But we are rebellious by nature. You have taught us to be a community that hungers and thirsts for righteousness. But we have great desire for evil and little longing for your true goodness. You have taught us to be a community of mercy. But we are harsh and impatient. You have taught us to be a community of pure hearts. But we have impure hearts. You have taught us to be a community of peacemakers. But we have not sought reconciliation with each other or in our communities as we should.

By your power and grace, account our sins to Jesus’ sacrificial death and amend our ways by the power of his glorious resurrection. Through Christ we pray, Amen.

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace .............................................. Colossians 1:13-14For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

(Sung by all)I stand amazed in the presenceOf Jesus the Nazarene,And wonder how he could love me,A sinner, condemned unclean.

How marvelous! How wonderful! And my song shall ever be;How marvelous! How wonderful! Is my Savior’s love to me!”

He took my sins and my sorrows And He made them His very ownAnd bore the burden to Calvary And suffered and died alone

How marvelous! How wonderful! And my song shall ever be;How marvelous! How wonderful! Is my Savior’s love to me!”

*‡The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.

And also with you.

Mary Hudson, solo

Now thank we all our God with heart and hands and voices,Who wondrous things hath done, in whom this world rejoices;Who, from our mother’s arms, hath blessed us on our wayWith countless gifts of love, and still is ours today.

O may this bounteous God through all our life be near us,With ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us;And keep us in his grace, and guide us when perplexed,And free us from all ills in this world and the next.

All praise and thanks to God the Father now be given,The Son, and him who reigns with them in highest heaven,The one eternal God whom earth and heaven adore; For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore!
