“Share the Journey; Grow in Faith”
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This week we complete our journey through the Lord’s Prayer with the very last word, “AMEN.”
The word Amen is a Hebrew word that is used in nearly every language on earth at the conclusion of
prayer. The literal translation of the word is “may this be so.” We’re asking that things we have
prayed for will literally come into being.
Years ago when my son Kres was young, he and I would often watch Star Trek together. One of
the things that stuck with me from those earliest episodes of Star Trek was how much Captain Kirk
depended on his crew for advice and consent, particularly from his first officer, Spock, and his engi-
neer, Scotty. Every episode moved from tranquility to crisis to resolution and then to normalcy. In the
middle of a crisis, Captain Kirk, looking for a resolution, would consult the other officers, and when
they had arrived at a solution, he would give the command, “Make it so.”
When we conclude our prayer with Amen, what we are saying is, God, make this so. Make a pre-
sent reality of our honoring you, worshipping you, and esteeming you as our creator, our redeemer,
and sustainer. Make us truly thankful for all that we receive on this day and give us the strength to
forgive others because we know we have been forgiven. Help us to live our lives in such a way that
we don’t simply resist evil, but that we flee evil, so that indeed we are participants in the building of
your kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven. Remind us that you are always present, always more
powerful than any crisis in our lives, and that you deserve our honor and glory, not only this day but
every day. Make this so for us, Amen.

Youth Service Day Continues!!
If you did not sign up for a slot to
have an odd job done or to get your
jump on spring cleaning, it is not too
late! I have had such positive feed-
back from our service day that we will
keep it as an ongoing event. Please con-
tact Brian Dilday at 252-367-1914 and
I will arrange a time for the youth to
complete the project.
