Prayers of the People – Epiphany 3-BJesus calls on us to follow him. Let us call on Jesus for the needs, concerns and hopes of all God’s people, saying: God of grace, hear us, we pray.
For the Church: especially world-wide Anglican Communion in all of its diversity, for Michael, our Presiding Bishop, and Kevin our bishop, that we may introduce others to Christ through our lives, deeds, and words. God of grace, Hear us, we pray.For this parish family of All Saints; especially for everyone who call this place their spiritual home; we ask that we may be counted among those who listen to God’s voice, and delight to do God’s will. The Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul the Apostle is a feast celebrated during the liturgical year on January 25, recounting the conversion. This feast is celebrated in the Roman Catholic, Anglican and Lutheran churches. This feast is at the conclusion of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, an international Christian ecumenical observance that began in 1908, which is an octave (an eight-day observance) spanning from January 18 (observed in Anglican and Lutheran tradition as the Confession of Peter, and in the pre-

1961 Roman Catholic Church as the feast of the Chair of Saint Peter at Rome) to January 25. In rural England, the day functioned much like groundhog day does in the modern-day United States. Supposed prophecies ranged from fine days predicting good harvests, to clouds and mists signifying pestilence and war in the coming months. Conversion of Saint Paul- O God, who, by the preaching of thine apostle Paul, hast caused the light of the Gospel to shine throughout the world: Grant, we beseech thee, that we, having his wonderfulconversion in remembrance, may show forth our thankfulness unto thee for the same by following the holy doctrine which he taught; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,now and for ever. Amen.
