Cuba Differences Similitudes

Cuba has one of the very few

remaining centrally-planned

economies in the world. About 83% of the Cuban labor

force is employed by the state,

with an additional 5% working

for companies. Cuban applicants are usually

treated preferentially.

In China they have two hours to lunch while in the other country they have one hour. Some Americans have become addicted to their job.

The work it is a fundamental in the life of everyone no matter where you live. It is the source of a good stability economical. London and China work only to Monday to Friday.

Abortion in Cuba is somewhat

liberal. Families with fewer children

tend to give more attention to

the fewer children. The Family Code was passed,

giving men and women equal

rights and responsibilities for

housework, childrearing and

education.

In USA and Cuba the abortion is a legal activity. In London is normal that a couple don’t have a child. In the other hand in China they can have one baby per couple.

Both parents have the obligation to take care of their child. For all the countries family is a priority in their life.

Cubans are particularly fun of good conversation, music,

dancing, singing, fishing and

sports (especially baseball). They love good books,

movies, painting and hand-

crafts. They drink beers or mojitos

and smoke their Havana

cigars.

In Cuba the people smoke their Havana cigars while Chinese loves play Mahjong and karaoke.

The activities that all the countries or cities have in common is play outside, go out to dinner, and watch movies.

Christianity is the main religion

practiced but only about 44

percent of the population. 25 percent of the population

follow the various occultic

spiritist religions, and a

significant amount have no

religion. Other religions are jews, islam,

protestant, Santeria, Yoruba.

In Cuba the main religion is Christianity but in Guatemala is the catholic and evangelic.

Cuba politics defined the

country as a socialist state in

which all power belongs to

the working people. The main forum in Cuba for

government and politics is the

national assembly of Cuba. The national assembly of

Cuba is comprised of 601

members.

In USA, Guatemala, and London their government is well organized by three powers Legislative, Executive and Judicial. In Cuba the government depends in the work of all the people.

In China, Guatemala, and USA exist two parties the Democratic

Party and Republic Party.

The United States is a federal constitutional republic that is made for fifty

states. The federal government is compounded by three branches that are

legislative, executive and judicial. In each state usually works with three levels

of government federal, state, and local.

It is officially a secular nation like you can see in its constitution tells that

everyone has the freedom of exercise any religion and it prohibit that the

government has a main religion. For that reason in it you can see different

types of religion such as Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, no religion, and the

most important Protestant and Roman Catholic.

Americans have not too much time free but when they have it, they like to

painting and sculpting; playing musical instrumental. The favorite hobby of

Americans is play golf.

In USA the most important it is the family and for them the family includes

only the parents and children without any relative. Now a day is very normal

that the mother works outside the home and who is in charge of the bills. A

few states the abortion is a legal practice but it is necessary the approval of

the parents.

Not working in USA is considered immoral they take this value seriously.

They prefer work than the free time. As a result many people come to be

“workaholics”, or people who are addicted to their work.

The most popular kind of family in London is a married couple with or

without children but we also can find families of just one parent or living

alone.

The largest religious groupings are Christians (48.4 per cent), followed by

those of no religion (20.7 per cent), Muslims (12.4 per cent), Hindus (5.0 per

cent), Jews (1.8 per cent), Sikhs (1.5 per cent), Buddhists (1.0 per cent) and

other (0.6 per cent).London has traditionally been Christian, and has a large

number of churches, particularly in the City of London.

In London the families spare their time going to the theater, cinemas, and

restaurants or shopping. Another way to spare time in London is visiting the

different nightclubs that the London city offers to you.

England is divided into four levels of sub national entities: regions,

counties, districts and parishes. The districts in England may also have the

status of Burgoo (borough), city, or Burgoo real (royal borough). The

metropolitan counties were divided into metropolitan districts called outer

boroughs. When it was abolished the county councils the metropolitan

districts absorbed many of their powers and work the same way as other

In this summary about Cuba we can observe that some things that Cuban

people do are similar with Guatemalan culture, spare time for Cuban’s people

is use to have a good conversation, dancing, fishing and do sports these are

similar in our culture. We can see that the roles of the family there are more

integral because the whole family helps each other and they don’t have many

children and take well of them this doesn’t happen in our country. The main

religion in Cuba is Christianity Catholic a lot percentage practiced but like

many countries exist people that practiced different religions like Islam, Jews

etc. The politics in Cuba are defined as a socialist state in which all power

belong to the working people, Fidel Castro was the head of the government

since 1976 staying up during 50 years. The labor force is employed by the state

for Cuban people and also there are people who work in companies connected

to the state, Cuban applicants are treated preferentially and have better jobs

that other people and if an expat want to work in Cuba they need a special

work permit for do their job. We can find many differences or similarities that

we as Guatemalan has or don’t like Cubans.

Alan works in the claims department of a major hospital. Paperwork on a

recent admission shows that a traumatic mugging caused the patient to

require an adjustment in the medication she is prescribed to control anxiety

and mood swings. Alan is struck by the patient’s unusual last name and upon

checking her employment information realizes she is one of his daughter’s

grade school teachers.

Alan’s daughter seems very happy in her school and he cannot violate

patient confidentiality by informing the school of a teacher’s mental illness but

he is not comfortable with a potentially unstable person in a position of

influence and supervision over his eight year old daughter. Can Alan reconcile

these issues in an ethical manner?

Before answering, take into account the Law of each country, culture,

statistics, etc. any relevant information to support your opinion.

PROBLEM

Page 10: Worldwide Cultures

In USA the health of a person is very important like the education of a

child because both of them are human been and deserve a good life. Allan as

doctor and not as a father could talk with a representative of organization to

refer the teacher like a beneficiary of one of his programs to offer to help

with the medicaments and treatments it could need, with the condition that

the teacher need to organize its priorities putting in the first place its health.

In this way Allan should do this like anonymous to protect he and his daughter

of the conflict of interest. Because doing this he can help the teacher

without problem with his ethic. If not he will take advantage of their position

and it is against the use Position & Resources of our benefit.

For the good of all and not Alan put in the position of a doctor but as a

father who would be concerned about the welfare of his daughter. So first

talk to the school principal to let you know that your teacher is patient and let

you know what happens, seeing the view of the child welfare and all students,

then say that in this case to move his daughter to another teacher, and if it

cannot be necessary to withdraw your child from school. In the end if he does

not say anything to the manager about this can be very risky for both her

daughter as for students of the establishment.

Page 11: Worldwide Cultures

In London the government will help Alan to find help to his daughter’s

teacher, and they give to the teacher the economic support to always have her

medicine and also they bring her the medical and psychological help that she

need to overcome her disease.

In China, the child that do not compete since they are little babies they do

not have a good future. Since they have 5 or 6 years their goal is to be the

best. However, the 30% of children is school have stress, according to the

University College London (2010), that is because exceed of work that they

have.

So, I think that Alan should talk to the Principal and the teacher because

Chinese people want the best for their child. And they want them to be the

best. In conclusion, if Alan talks with the Principal, to find another way to

teach of another occupation that will be the best for the teacher’s sickness.

His daughter education will be the best and she won't have any further

problem.

LONDON

CHINA

Page 12: Worldwide Cultures

In Cuba we can resolve this problem sending an anonymous letter to the

school and tell the problem that has the teacher and that the parents doesn't

want to have a teacher in that condition having a relationship with their

children. We would send a letter anonymous because the laws of Cuba are

seeing that if you appoint to a problem is bad and if you don't is bad too and

for this cause in this problem it will be better to send this type of letter and

after that see if something happen with the teacher. If the school fire the

teacher and if not you can to make a complaint to the education minister to

solve this problem.
