CASE STUDY ANALYSIS

When we hear about any event, which was a success, it includes: - Planning Organizing & Management Execution

Same was in the case of Central Bank Robbery of Fortaleza, NORTH EASTERN BRAZIL.

The burglaryOn the weekend of August 6 and August 7,2005 a gang of burglars, suspected to be either the Gang of the Tattooed or First Capital Command, tunneled into the Banco Central in Fortaleza. They removed five containers of 50-Real notes, with an estimated value 168,000,000 Brazilian Real (almost 80 Million US dollars) that happens to be the World's Largest Bank robbery, which was accomplished.

The burglars managed to evade or disable the bank's internal alarms and sensors; the burglary remained undiscovered until the bank opened for business on the morning of Monday, August 8.The money in the vault was being examined to see if it should be recirculated or destroyed. The bills were not numbered sequentially because they were used, making them almost impossible to trace.

PlanningThree months earlier, the gang of burglars had rented an empty property in the centre of the city and then tunneled 78 meters (255 ft) beneath two city blocks to a position beneath the bank. The gang had renovated a house and put up a sign indicating it was a landscaping company selling both natural and artificial grass as well as plants. The tunnel, being roughly 70 cm (2.3 ft) square and running 4 meters (13 ft) beneath the surface, was well-constructed: it was lined with wood and plastic and had its own lighting and air conditioning systems. They had sophisticated equipment, including GPS (global positioning systems) and experts in math, engineering and excavation, police said. Henceforth making the best use of their expert skill-sets and technology.

Organizing & ManagementThere was a team of 6 to 20 people; where as each of them had specific jobs been delegated to them. To start with, the gang dug an 80-metre tunnel, wood paneled and fitted with electric lighting and rudimentary air-conditioning by drilling and digging experts. For the latest technology and high end drilling machines and regular expenses they needed capital funds. So there was a financing guy named Fernando. Then there was lookout person who kept watch on police activity who was known as The German. Then comes the most important person, the front man who manages all the resources and captains the team who was named Paulo Sergio. In this way when all the things were arranged they finally executed their plan on 8 August 2005. Lastly, the house was covered in white powder to make locating fingerprints difficult.

ExecutionOn the final weekend, the gang broke through 1.1 meters (3.6 ft) of Steel reinforced concrete to enter the bank vault. The bank notes weighed approximately 3,500 kg (approx. 7,700 lbs) and would have required a considerable amount of time and effort to remove.

InvestigationThe only concrete information the police had was a copy of the identity document that had been used to rent the building. The name of the leaseholder was Paulo Sergio de Souza, and on his identification card there was a photograph of him, bizarrely wearing a hat. By late November last year, certain progress in the case had been made. Thirteen suspects had been arrested, and about 11 per cent of the stolen money recovered and the police still failed to identify the mastermind behind this crime, Paulo Sergio who remained a mystery and where about rest of the money were still unknown.

Observation & Conclusion I have noticed that the date of robbery was the same date on the documents of Paulo Sergio as his “DATE OF BIRTH” so that’s called a combine effort of determination, dedication and hard work.

In the video one if the spokesperson said, “IT was the hard earn money”. And to this I totally agree.
