World Wetlands Day 2013 – Bangladesh

A greeting from WORLD PEACE MISSION (WPM) is one of the largest peace NGO in Bangladesh. We are working in diversified field like men and women empowerment, social development, health, education, disaster preparedness & management, environment restoration, wetland conservation,drug abuse, participatory wetland management, integrated water resources management, public awareness, capacity building to manage disaster etchas celebrated World Wetlands Day 2013 successfully through seminar and presentation ceremony, campaign and distribute message of Secretary general (Ramsar Conventation on Wetlands).

This year WPM has celebrated WWD 2013 in important districts (Dhaka) and organized large-scale programs in Bangladesh. This part is important for wetland values both ecologically and economically and essential for wetland conservation. WPM has promoted and involved different GO, NGO, local community and different level of people to celebrate World Wetland Day 2013. WORLD PEACE MISSION organized

WWD 2013 in Dhaka (Capital City of Bangladesh)

WPM has celebrated WWD 2013 through seminar at National press club (Conference Lounge) in Dhaka on 2nd February. WPM has been

organized the seminar. The seminar topic was Wetlands Take Care of Water”. Dr. Kamal Kumar Saha, Founder & Chairman of WORLD PEACE MISSION, presided over the seminar. The seminar was address by State Minister, (Ministry of water resources) Alhaj Md. Mahbubur Rahman M.P. as the Chief Guest. Parliamentary standing committee on Ministry of posts & telecommunications Member Md. Nazrul Islam Babu M.P, Bangladesh Homoeopathic Board Chairman Dr. Dilip Kumar Roy, Water Resources Planning Organization and Bangladesh Haor & Wetlands development Board, Ex. Director General Eng. M. Inamul Haque, Advisor of WORLD PEACE MISSION Dr. Ashis Sankar Neogi, Advisor of WORLD PEACE MISSION IncomeTax Consultant Advocate S.R.Saha, Advisor of WORLD PEACE MISSION Mr. shamal Paul, Assistant Pablic procicutor, District Majistrate Judge Court, dhaka. General Secretary of WORLD PEACE MISSION Mr. Napur Kumar Brahma said, Ramsar convention always encourage us to celebrate world wetlant day. The convention on wetlands of international importance, called the Ramsar Convention, an provides the framework for national action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources. The Ramsar Convention is the only global environmenttal treaty that deals with a particular ecosystem. The treaty was adopted in the Iranian city of Ramsar in 1971 and the Convention’s member countries cover all geographic region of the planet.

Water Resources Planning Organization & Bangladesh Haor & Wetlands development Board, Ex. Director General Eng. M. Inamul Haque, (Key note Speaker) presented papers on the seminar.

The speakers said sound wetlands could contribute to a healthy and sustainable economic condition. Therefore, the wetlands should be utilized for welfare of the people by protecting those from ruination and preserving biodiversity through proper and time-befitting work plans. He also said, the tourism spots do not get any meaning without the presence of wetlants.

Chief Guest Alhaj Md. Mahbubur Rahman M.P. said, Pointing to the country’s heritage and culture, Alhaj Md. Mahbubur Rahman said characteristically we are a hospitable nation and at the same time, we have huge natural resource and international standard tourist spots.Mixing these together, Bangladesh can be one of the world’s most popular destinations for tourists.He also urged the private sector entrepreneurs to work jointly with the government so that the unnoticed tourist spots come to the focus of the tourists. Hatirjhel Projects proved by the govt, we can management our wetlands. He said, i am elected from tourist area “Kuakata”. Our govt. Treatment or management for river by capital dressing.

Dr. Kamal Kumar Saha said Investment in the tourist industry needs to be hassle-free to promote this sector. He also emphasized to ensure the security of the international tourists.He also informed ensuring healthy wetlands GO; NGO and different level of people should work together. He also said build up strong platform both national and international level and exchange knowledge and technology for wetlands conservation and its wise use. He thanks to Ramsar Bureau and especially thanks to Secretary General, Anada Tiega, Ramsar Convention on wetlands for encouraging and supporting.
