WORLD SUBUD ASSOCIATION – INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION

WORLD SUBUD ASSOCIATION (WSA) is a member based, non profit organization with tax exempt status, registered in the District of Columbia, USA

WSA has 52 member countries and 34 countries in which there are groups or members practising the Subud latihan

MEMBERSHIP-There are approximately 13.000 members worldwide

Countries where Subud members have recently been opened are: United Arab Emirates, China and Romania

ORGANIZATIONALLY WSA is divided into 9 zones (1-9) and for the spiritual/kejiwaan purposes into 3 areas (Areas I-II I)

FINANCIALLY the WSA functions with voluntary donations from individual members, enterprises, grants and contributions from member countries

The accounts and auditors of the association are based in the UK

INTERNATIONAL JOB DESCRIPTIONS – WORLD SUBUD COUNCIL

WSA CHAIRPERSON WSA Chair; chair of World Subud Council; chair of WSA Board of Directors Ex-officio trustee of MSF and director SDIA and SICA

Overall Role Ensures the aims and mission of the WSA are carried out Ensures the WSC follows policies and resolutions established by World Congress Represents WSA outside Subud Aware of concerns that arise within the worldwide membership

WSA DEPUTY CHAIR Works with WSA chairperson Represents him/her when the chair is unable to act or be present Takes on specific responsibilities as agreed together with the WSA Chair

WSA EXECUTIVE CHAIR and executive team Carry out decisions of Congress and Council (WSC) and maintain an effective day-

to-day administration The WSA Executive team work with local Congress Organising Teams (COT) in

organizing world congresses

WSA EXECUTIVE VICE CHAIR works with the executive chair and represents him/her in their absence

ZONE REPRESENTATIVES (ZRs): The zone reps have three roles:

1. To work with national delegations from countries of their zone, to form a zone council and to represent and respond to needs and concerns of WSA member countries, dealing democratically with issues, resolutions and projects within the zone and decided at World Congress.

2. To carry out the vision and interests of the WSA as a whole. They come together with other components (wing/affiliate chairs, IHs) to form the World Subud Council.

3. As WSA directors they have the legal responsibility of ensuring that the WSA is run within the law and that nothing will jeopardize the good name and standing of the WSA.

INTERNATIONAL HELPERS (IHs):

Visit countries and groups as the need arises; to work with the kejiwaan councillors of member countries and often participate in zone meetings and national congresses.

Come together with other components (ZRs; wing/affiliate chairs) to form the World Subud Council (WSC).

Support the WSA chair and deputy chair, the executive chair and team and the international wing, foundation and affiliate officers.

WORLD CONGRESS

WORLD CONGRESS is the highest authority in Subud when member countries meet to discuss policy, strategy and make recommendations and vote resolutions. World Congresses take place approximately every four years.

During World Congress, the new WSA chairperson and the WSA Executive chair are chosen as well as the 18 International Helpers, the affi l iate chairs and the wing coordinators. Their term runs until the next World Congress.

New Zone Reps are usually chosen prior to World Congress to create conti nuity within their zone. Their mandate begins at World Congress.

WORLD SUBUD COUNCIL AND THE WSA EXECUTIVE

WORLD SUBUD COUNCIL (WSC) represents the WSA member countries between World Congresses. It carries out the resolutions voted by World Congress and ensures the association follows its aims and mission.

WSA EXECUTIVE carries out the daily management of the association . The executive team includes the chair, a vice-chair, a secretary, an administrative assistant, a treasurer and an accountant. The WSA accountant /auditors are based in the UK. Roles may vary from one administration to the next.

WSC comprises the WSA Chair, WSA Executive Chair, 7 to 9 Zone Representatives, 18 International Helpers, the MSF chair; chairs or coordinators of the affi l iates/wing organizations: SDIA, SICA, SESI, SYAI

WSA BOARD OF DIRECTORS comprises the Zone Reps and the WSA Chair. In decision making processes the entire council participates, with the Board of Directors taking a vote.

SUBUD WORLD COUNCIL MEETINGS

The f i rst WSC meeting this term was held in Great Malvern, UK, in August 2010 during the Subud Bri tain National Congress and Gather ing. This al lowed the counci l to meet with many members from Europe.

In 2011 the meeting took place in Rungan Sari in Kal imantan in June, also at the t ime of an internat ional gather ing fol lowing a gathering the pr ior week in Wisma Subud, Jakarta.

THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE IN VANCOUVER, CANADA IN JUNE 2012, PRIOR TO THE GATHERING OF THE AMERICAS .

In 2012 The Counci l meeting wi l l be in Vancouver, Canada, in June and pr ior to the Americas Gather ing (Zones 7, 8 and 9) .

SUBUD YOUTH ACTIVITIES INTERNATIONAL (SYAI) has 6 internat ional coordinators, 2 per Area . The current coordinators are: AREAS 1: Roland Fraval and Lucinda Young, AREA 2: Steven Mart in and Theresa Boyd, AREA 3: Alex Woodward and Ricardo Arrat ia.

The International Coordinators network with nat ional and zonal youth reps. They support and promote youth events worldwide, they also manage the International Youth Travel Fund (IYTF) which helps young people to travel to World Congresses, internat ional meetings and to volunteer for social projects.

WINGS

SUBUD ENTERPRISE SERVICES INTERNATIONAL (SESI) Includes a worldwide team working with Ruslan Morris as coordinator based in Indonesia. The team includes Rashad Pol lard in the US and Stuart Cooke in China. Their role is to help promote Enterprises with Bapak’s Vision throughout the world. Visi t http:/ /subudenterprise.com

SUBUD INTERNATIONAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION (SIHA) is in the process of becoming an off ic ial WSA wing, The current internat ional coordinator is Matthew D’Haemer from France. SIHA aims to network among and support the various health pract i t ioners within Subud.

Archives: Restoring original recordings of Bapak’s talks, restructuring the internat ional archives team.
