Overview of the largest LNG producers and exporters
Pacific Basin Exporters
Indonesia
Indonesia is the largest LNG producer and exporter. Indonesias LNG is mos tly imported to Japan and
small volumes going to Taiwan and South Korea. Most productive complexes are at Bontang and Arun
with annually produce 30 million tons. Beside, BP project at Tangguh is destined for China, others Asian
markets and United State. The Tangguh field shared with CNOOC, Mitsubishi Corporation and smaller
partners such as Nippon Energy, Kanematsu, Sumitomo and Nissho Iwai. Tangguh delivered to Fujian
LNG project in China, K-power CO., Ltd in Korea, POSCO in Korea and Sempra Energy LNG Marketing
Corp. in Mexico.
Malaysia
Third worlds largest LNG exporter and primarily marketed to Japan, Taiwan and South Korea. The
liquefaction terminals were developed at Bintulu, which is the largest natural gas processing in the world,
Malaysia Satu, Dua and Tiga. Bintulus LNG processing plant is owned by Petronas. Beside Petronas,
Royal Dutch Shell, Mitsubishi and Sarawak government hold a minority stake.
Australia
Australia exported LNG from Northwest Shelf project primarily to Japan. The company responsible for
liquefaction LNG is the Conocophillips. They also work with Shell, Osaka Gas and Woodside Petroleum,
which developed the Greater Sunrise project via floating LNG facility. ChevronTexaco, in partnership with
ExxonMobil and Shell constructed the Gorgon Project to monetize reserves discovered offshore
Northwest Australia.
Brunei Darussalam
Has liquefaction at Lumut. Brunei exported LNG mainly to Japan, and smaller volumes to South Korea.
The plant owned by the Government of Brunei, Shell Overseas Trading Limited and Misubishi
Corporation.
United States -
Has liquefaction at Kenai, Alaska, and exported LNG to Japan since 30 years ago.

Russia
Build their LNG plant at Sakhalin Island off R ussias east coast. Russia exports their LNG to Japan.
Middle East Exporters
Qatar
Fourth largest worlds LNG exports. Qatar builds liquefaction plants by Qatargas and Ras Laffan LNG
consortia. Qatar exports LNG to Japan and South Korea but short terms cargo, going to United States
and Europe. Qatars natural gas mostly located in the offshore North Field.
Oman
Has one LNG plant, most Omans LNG going to South Korea and smaller volumes to Japan, UnitedStates and Europe.
United Arab Emirates
Fifth largest worlds natural gas reserves and ninth in LNG exports. Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Co.
operates the nations only export facility and exports their LNG to Japan.
Atlantic Basin Exporters
Algeria
Algeria is the s econd largest worlds LNG exporter. Algerias LNG exported to Europe and United States.
More than 1.0 tcf of natural gas per year exported to Europe Through pipelines. The Algerian State-
owned oil and gas company Sonatrach owns and operates four liquefaction complexes.
Nigeria
Nigeria exported of LNG mainly to Turkey, Italy, France and Spain. Nigeria has also delivered LNG to
United States. The plants in Nigeria are Nigerias Bonny Island LNG plant and Nigeria LNG. International
companies associated in Nigerias LNG plant are the ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco, ConocoPhillips ENI,
Statoil and Total.
Trinidad and Tobago
Trinidad and Tobago exported LNG to Continental United States, Puerto Rico, Spain and Dominican
Republic. The LNG plant was constructed by the Trinidad and Tobagos LNG facility at Point Fortin.
