Lightweighting Processes & Related Technology for the Automotive Industry
WHy AdVErTIsE IN Lightweighting worLd MAGAZINE? • Lightweighting World is the only national and global magazine 100% dedicated to the one issue central
to the future of the automotive industry.
• Lightweighting World is the only media resource with a circulation specifically targeting OEMs, tier suppliers and related companies involved with engineered lightweighting applications and systems.
• Lightweighting World delivers solutions-driven content written by thought leaders and experts in the field.
• Lightweighting World offers multiple print and digital products that are specifically designed to maximize your company’s brand awareness, build market share and generate sales interest.
“Lightweighting is a universal approach because it can be applied to every system and every component and it amplifies the impact of other strategies. ” Jeffrey Sternberg, Global Automotive Technology Director, DuPont
“Lightweighting is going to be with us for a long time. Every manufacturer will have to leverage their entire palette of materials. ” Hesham Ezzat, General Motors Corporation
THIs Is NO sMAll rEVOluTION. Lightweighting is impacting every sector of the automotive
industry including OEMs, Tier 1, 2 and 3 suppliers, R&D
materials and equipment specialists, designers, safety
engineers, as well as government regulators.
Specifically, global lightweighting materials will exceed $133 billion by 2019, with an annual growth rate of 8.5%. This includes metals, plastics and composites and their sub segments. The demand has increased from all types of vehicle manufacturers for lighter metals, such as high-strength steel and aluminum, to substitute conventional materials without compromising quality.
In parallel with the expansion of lightweighting materials is the critical need for new designs, equipment and process solutions for all levels of the automotive supply chain.
A multitude of solutions will be needed to meet the next round of fuel consumption and CO2 regulations. According to an IHS analysis, roughly 30% reduction in road load will be required in addition to massive adoption of advanced engine, transmission, and energy recovery (hybrid) technologies to achieve the 2020 and 2025 objectives for reduced greenhouse gas emissions set forth by European and U.S. regulators, respectively.
