SUMMARY / RESUME

This bilingual addendum provides a record of the physical attributes of each site being discussed at the 29th session. The information is presented in two parts: • a table of the total surface area of each property and any buffer zone proposed, together with the geographic

coordinates of each site's approximate centre point; and • a set of separate tables presenting the component parts of each of the 20 proposed serial properties. Cet addendum bilingue fournit un enregistrement des qualités physiques de chaque site débattu à la 29e session. Nominations of properties to the World Heritage List -- Addendum WHC-05/29.COM/8B.Add 2, p. 1 Inscriptions des biens sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial - Addendum

SUMMARY The progress to date on the Retrospective Inventory of properties already inscribed on the World Heritage List approved by the Committee's 7th Extraordinary session (UNESCO, 2004) has called attention to the need to record as completely as possible the defining physical boundary attributes of each property inscribed on the World Heritage List. Of the 47 properties being discussed, 20 are serial proposals containing a total of 125 new serial elements (excluding those components already inscribed of serial sites now being extended). While some of these serial components are clustered together in the same vicinity, sometimes in the same buffer zone, others are located at great distance from one another, and in one case, in 10 different countries. A total of 4.5 million hectares is proposed for inscription, of which the overwhelming proportion (98%) are for natural and mixed sites, although numerically natural and mixed sites represent only 30% of the 47 nominations being discussed. The average size of natural and mixed sites is 315,500 ha, whereas the average size of cultural properties being presented is only 2,800 ha. The following table displays the relevant figures for the last three years:

SOMMAIRE Le progrès accompli à ce jour dans l'inventaire rétrospectif des biens déjà inscrits sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial approuvé par le Comité lors de sa 7e session extraordinaire (UNESCO, 2004), a appelé l'attention sur la nécessité d'enregistrer aussi complètement que possible les caractéristiques définissant les limites physiques de chaque bien inscrit sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial. Sur les 47 biens débattus, 20 sont des propositions d'inscription en série contenant un total de 125 nouveaux éléments (à l'exclusion de ceux des composants déjà inscrits comme sites en série faisant actuellement l'objet d'extension). Tandis que quelques-uns de ces composants sont groupés ensemble dans le même voisinage, parfois dans la même zone-tampon, d'autres sont situés à grande distance l'un de l'autre, et dans un cas, dans dix pays différents. Un total de 4 millions d'hectares et demi est proposé pour inscription, avec une proportion écrasante de 98% pour les sites naturels et mixtes, bien que numériquement les sites naturels et mixtes ne représentent que 30% des 47 propositions d'inscription en discussion.
