INTRO

One of the biggest problems our world

is dealing with today is world famine.

This is taking peoples lives and

destroying families. Famines have been

going on for hundreds of years.

They also caused the spread of

diseases.

PRESENT

Today a lot of people are suffering from world

hunger. Half of our population is dying and there

seems to be not a lot of help available.

In 2012 the East Africa Somalia Famine has took

the life of millions of people. Also 3 million people

are capable to have aids.

This is due to the food rotting , and their meat

being intoxicated.

EAST AFRICA FAMINE

These are two images of people who are suffering from the

famine. On the right is a pregnant lady who might be at risk

from getting H.I.V. And the second picture is a kid starving

because they are out of food because everything is rotten.

PRESENT

Some other causes to famine are natural disasters

such as floods, hurricanes, and tropical storms.

When there are floods it causes all the crops to

become flooded and they are no longer good to eat.

Farmers will now have to move and try to adapt to

new environment and hope they can continue

farming.

PAST

One of the biggest famines in history was the Irish

potato famine.

It took place from 1845-1851

The population went down from 8 million people to

5 million people.

About 2 million aces of potatoes got rotten and a

lot of people got sick especially the ones who worked

in the field.

IRISH POTATO FAMINE

This is a picture of how the potatoes looked when

they got rotten. A lot of people didn’t know what to

do when this fungus came along because no one

knew it even existed.

PAST

“A person who steals bread during a famine is not

treated as a thief,” (Cat Stevens).

To me this quote means a person who steals bread

during a famine is not a thief because they are in

need of food, and they are starving,

They will do anything and everything to get food to

eat.

GREAT CHINA FAMINE

This famine was caused by natural disasters.

In July 1995, the Yellow River in china had got

flooded.

A lot of the crops had died and a lot of people

drowned.

Farmers in china couldn’t grow crops for a couple

of years.

FUTURE

Hopefully in the world will become a better place

and the population will grow.

We can hope famines wont occur no more and our

world wont have to suffer.

We can start donation center so we can help people

who have been involved in famines and provide them

with the help they need.

WAYS TO PREVENT FAMINES

There are many ways we can prevent famines, and one way is

help from the government.

Since the government has so much money, they can send all

these countries that have been affect by famines food.

This will help the build up there food supplies.

They can make the farmers soil fertilized so their crops wont rot.

The government also stated they are trying to make peace with

other countries so they can help support them.

TECHNOLOGY

Technology can also play a big role in preventing famines.

If we produce more machines and stuff it’s a better chance

our products and food will not rot.

Its also better because theses machines will be producing

products faster so there will hopefully be more food for

everyone.

We wont have to worry about running out of food and

crops going bad.

EDUCATION

Education can also help prevent famines.

If kids are educated they will learn more about

famines.

They will learn about past famines and what people

did to survive.

If a famine ever occurs again students will know

what to expect and how to react to it.

Also if they are educated they will set high living

stadards.
