On the event of the WDCD, a community plantation program was organized on 17th

June 2017 at tribal

villages from Jhadjamda to Badjode of Baripada Block participated by Dr. Bijay Kumar Nanda,

Executive Director of Sandhan Foundation & Member-Asia Region, Sustainable Advisory Network,

Climate Investment Fund, The World Bank, USA, Prof. Pramananda Das, Chairman, SFTRRD, Mr.

Santosh Kumar Mohanty, Vice-Chairman, Dist Environment Society, Mr. Bibhuti Bhusan Patra, Chief

Editor, Odia News Paper ‘Ekamatra’, Mr. Ashok Kumar Naik, Sarapanch, Badjode.

All SHG members of this village clusters were participated in the plantation program by pitting, digging,

fencing and planting the seedlings. They assured to take care of newly planted trees for their growth and

sustenance. .

At the outset, the Project Coordinator, DASI, Mr. Chandan Kumar Das welcomed the Guests and all the

members and participants of the Plantation Programme and apprised them the objectives of the

observation of the Day.

the Plantation Programme.

The workshop on WDCD was held at Hotel

Ambika, Baripada, with the active

participation of the community folks along

with the invited guests and the UNCCD

accredited CSO representatives. Dr. Bijay

Kumar Nanda, inaugurated the discussion on

LDN. Prof. P. Das, Mr. Santosh Kumar

Mohanty, Vice-Chairman, Dist Environment

Society, Dr. Jhunilata Bhuyan, Scientist,

KVK, Dr. Manoj Kumar Chand, PPO,

Mayurbhanj, Mr. Bibhuti Bhusan Patra,

Chief Editor, Odia News Paper ‘Ekamatra’

participated in the discussion and made aware the community folks on WDCD and LDN respectively.

Different Village forest Protection Committee Members, SHG Members, CBO Members, Electronics

and Print Media representatives were participated in the workshop.

At last the workshop was over with

the Vote of Thanks by Mr. Chandan

Kumar Das, Project Coordinator,

DASI, Baripada.
