Beginning…

In 1962 in speech American president Kennedy for first time sets problem about necessity of protection consumer rights. He says “All we are consumers!" and „We are the biggest economic group, which is touched of almost each social and privately economic decision.” A head of state marked that when he talk „the consumers is important group, but their opinion has neglect often.".

In this speech Kennedy indicate “four basic consumer rights ": right of safety;right of information;right of choice;right to be audible.

The first official marking the consumer day is

at 15 march 1983 and since then joint important date for consumers organizations spread over world. Two years late – at 9 April 1985, common assembly of UNN approve the idea this day will be World day for protection consumers.

The basic consumers rights are :

The right to meet the basic needs – to have access of basic goods and services; suitable food, clothes, shelter, health cares, education, communal services, water-supply and sewerage.

The right of safety – to be protected of products, production process and services,which is dangerous about health or life.

The right to be inform – to be protected about tricky or dishonestly advertisement so make inform choice.

The right of choice – you may choice from products and services, offered from different competitors and secure satisfactory quality.

The right to be listen to – to have representative consumers interest in governmental politics, and in development products and services.

The right of compensation – to receive just compensation for fraud, of poor quality commodity or unsatisfactory services.

The right consumers to be educated – to acquire knowledge and skills, necessary to inform us, sure decisions for commodity and services.

The right health environment –to live and work in surrounding that isn’t threat present and future generation.

Consumers day in Bulgaria

In our country the beginning consumers protection is since 1999 г. Then was created special low for consumers protection and trade rules, which fix better balance in interrelations on market among producers, dealers and consumers, to ensure safety on consumption and better quality of live and clearly rules on merchant activities.

In connection with the timing Bulgarian legislation with European at 10 June 2006 law entered into force for consumer protection, subsequently introduced an additional directives, which increased the level of consumer protection in Bulgaria.

Non-traditional exhibition of the European consumers day.Commissioner Miglena Kuneva has launched the first ever

EU award for best consumer campaign.In February 2008 year in Sofia opens European Consumer

Centre .

The theme is: Junk food generation.

World Health Organization (WHO) wants an international code for prohibiting the marketing of unhealthy food to children.

2009 г.

Online chat with EU citizens about their rights as consumers in connection with the tenth anniversary of the European Consumer Day-15 march 2009 , conducted by Commissioner Meglena Kuneva and moderated in 12 languages: Bulgarian, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish.

EU competition in 27 words: My European consumer rights, announced on the occasion of European Consumer Day - 15 marth and is a joint initiative Gerb Gabrovo and MEP Nikolay Mladenov.

Opened a new European Information Centre-Europe Direct.

Take advantage of their rights!".

Round table „Good practices in consumer credit”. Information campaign „In the EU, you have consumer rights. Hang

them!”.Cotsiologichesko Flash Eurobarometer study, investigating a well-

known consumer rights when withdrawing credit. Outdoor reception on the occasion World consumer day, organized by

the Ministry of agriculture and food and National veterinary service in Varna, Burgas, Plovdiv, Ruse and Vratca.

Traveling exhibition entitled: „The consume should know". The aim of the exhibition is to inform consumers about their rights in the manufacture and marketing of food products and to provoke themselves to ensure that irregularities in the supply of such products on the market.

Commission on Consumer Protection /CCP/ and Niki Kunchev will check for usual manner and in informal situations knowledge of citizens about their rights as consumers of goods and services having held a special edition of the game “Become rich with thematic issues of consumer protection”
