We work with businesses to develop innovative and optimised production processes, and to help them enter the supply chains for civil nuclear and other high-growth sectors. Like our sister centre, the AMRC with Boeing, we are a global centre of excellence in manufacturing R&D. Our focus is on precision engineering of large components for the most demanding applications. We are particularly keen to help smaller companies to innovate and succeed on the world stage, and are holding an open event on Wednesday 6 February 2013. The morning event will include short presentations about some of our core technologies, focusing on how SMEs can adopt the same innovative technologies and techniques as our leading global partners. Presentations will cover: High performance machining. Low-cost robotic machining. Advanced metrology. Welding and cladding. You will also be able to network with our technology specialists and industry partners, tour our workshop and other facilities, and see the range and scale of our state-of-the-art manufacturing resources. Our 5,000 sq m workshop includes: The largest deep-hole drilling machine in any UK university. Large 5-axis machining and mill-turn centres. Robotic machining cells. Large-scale welding and cladding cells. Additive and near-net manufacturing facilities. An immersive virtual reality cube.

The Nuclear AMRC is here to work with UK manufacturers, from global giants to small local contractors.

Presentations will cover:• High performance machining.• Low-cost robotic machining.• Advanced metrology.• Welding and cladding.

You will also be able to network with our technology specialists and industry partners, tour our workshop and other facilities, and see the range and scale of our state-of-the-art manufacturing resources.

Our 5,000 sq m workshop includes:• The largest deep-hole drilling

machine in any UK university.• Large 5-axis machining and mill-turn

centres.• Robotic machining cells.• Large-scale welding and cladding

cells. • Additive and near-net manufacturing

facilities.• An immersive virtual reality cube.
