During the two day workshop Coral Reef Atlas of Red

Sea and Gulf of Aden was released by Shri Tapan Misra,

Ashutosh, Director General, Forest Survey of India,

Dehradun.

Release of Desertification and Land Degradation Atlas of Selected Districts of

India Vol1 & 2

by Director, SAC, ISRO, Ahmedabad

The Land Degradation Atlas of Selected Districts of

India in two volumes (Vol 1 & 2) was also released

by Shri Tapan Misra, Director, SAC in presence of

Shri Jigmet Takpa, Jt. Secretary, MoEF&CC, New

Delhi and Dr. Subhash Ashutosh, Director General,

Forest Survey of India, Dehradun.

Workshop Sessions

The Workshop started with the welcome remarks by Dr Raj Kumar, DD, EPSA, SAC followed by Opening Remarks

by Shri D.K. Das, Associate Director, SAC, Ahmedabad and Remarks by Shri Jigmet Takpa, Jt. Secretary,

MoEF&CC, New Delhi. Dr. Subhash Ashutosh, Director General, FSI, Dehradun gave a presentation on Future

Prospects of Space Technology in Forest & Environmental Applications: FSI’s Perspective. During the workshop

various sessions and themes were conducted namely, Climate Change and Ecosystem Response, Remote

sensing for operational use in forestry & environment, Remote sensing database, policies and services, Pollution

and Heat Hazards for Public Health and special session on Mangroves and Wetlands. Total 34 agencies /

institutions participated in the workshop and it was attended by total 95 participants. Concluding session was

Chaired by Dr. Raj Kumar, DD/EPSA and it was very interactive and informative. The recent developments and

requirements from user agencies were very clearly brought out during the workshop.
