Workshop on ART in Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, and Beyond

• All PMTCT Options recognized by the WHO require ART treatment for pregnant women with CD4<350 for maternal health and MTCT

• Integrating PMTCT with ART planning, programming, and budgeting provides the opportunity to significantly increase the number of persons on treatment

• Improving access to treatment for pregnant women will require the interdigitation of groups and organizations providing and supporting PMTCT and ART

• Evidence-based outcome data about Option B+

retention, adherence, and resistance are limited

Workshop on ART in Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, and Beyond

• The experience initiating a national Option B+ program in Malawi offers us the opportunity to learn lessons and review early outcome data that might be useful initiating other programs

• This meeting is designed to provide a forum to share information about integrating PMTCT and ART and a platform to help plan our way forward

• The Adult Treatment and PMTCT/Pediatric Technical Workgroups plan to collaborate together to work closely with you in this effort
