The Eurachem Education and Training Working Group invites you to participate in an international workshop on internal quality control to be held in Berlin on Wednesday 10 to Thursday 11 October 2012. The event will be hosted by the German member of Eurachem, EUROLAB Germany. The workshop will cover analytical results from a range of sectors and disciplines including chemical analysis, testing, laboratory medicine and microbiology. The main focus will be on internal quality control performed in the laboratory for the continuous monitoring of operations and results of measurements, in order to decide whether results are reliable enough to be released. The workshop will include invited lectures, short communications, posters and break-out sessions. A training course on internal quality control will be held at the same venue the day before the workshop, Tuesday 9 October. WORKSHOP LANGUAGE English WORKSHOP CONTENT The workshop will cover all aspects of internal Quality Control (QC) performed in the laboratory with a mixture of general presentations and case studies illustrating how QC is implemented in different sectors. Topics to be covered include: Strategies for internal QC Materials for quality control Different types of control charts Setting and reviewing limits for control charts Planning of effective internal QC Interpreting and reviewing control charts Strategies for following-up QC failures Internal QC for non-routine analysis Internal QC for R&D laboratories Internal QC for qualitative measurements TRAINING COURSE The training course will be led by Bertil Magnusson and Vicki Barwick. The course will provide an introduction to the principles of internal quality control, setting-up control charts, establishing control limits, and daily and long-term evaluation of internal QC results.
