October has finally brought much needed rain. Hello all, September brought us great Spoonbread weather and it seemed to be one of the best in many years. That is due to the many, many hours of preparation and dedication to the event. To all Chamber members and volunteers that worked so hard to
make the Spoonbread another success, in the record book, many thanks. Although, I was not able to do very much my thoughts were with David and the family, as they al-ways work so hard to make the festival a great one.
This year our community of young people from different school organizations gave of their time and energy. We truly are a village and this was a successful venture by all who participated.
On September 18th, Kyle and I got the pleasure to welcome and do the ribbon cutting ceremony, at the Better Homes and Gardens Cypress real estate office Berea. It was a pleasant surprise to see so many friends and to make new friends, especially all of the folks that manage all of the Cypress offices all over the surrounding areas. Be sure to check out this new Chamber Group of businesses, especially Mark Cox, who is in the Berea location at 400 Richmond Road North, Suite F.
I did go by Churchill’s during the recent golf tournament. The weather was beautiful and a great time for this event. A very big thanks to those who went all out and planned this event, even though it was not a Chamber event, those of our membership, who took the lead, made this a very special event.
One last comment, for those who are behind on their payments, of any kind to the Chamber, please try to settle up with Rebecca, at the office. We are trying not to have any 2019 bills unpaid, as we go in the year 2020. It makes it so much easier for the of-fice to keep up with the financials.
Have a great rest of October and let’s hope that the rain could still bring beautiful colors for fall and that the weather that we had for Spoonbread, could be as good for the Octo-ber 12-13 KY Guild Fall Fair.
Sincerely,

Time to Celebrate the Seasons
As we begin to think about closing out the year, we will celebrate the Chamber’s many successes at our annual Awards Banquet to be held November 14th at the Berea Church of God where we will recognize the contributions of individuals and business members throughout our com-munity (see nomination form on page 14). You will also have the opportunity to promote your busi-ness and compete in some friendly competition through our annual Twilight Christmas Parade on Saturday, De-cember 7th (see application form on page 8). With Halloween coming up, you can also reserve a booth at Parks and Recreation’s Halloween in the Park and hand out candy to young people while promoting your business as you give back to the local community. To re-serve a space, call Priscilla in the Parks and Recreation office at 986-9402.
Sincerely,
David

Berea Story Trail Ribbon Cutting The Berea City Park has a new addition: the Be-rea Story Trail, which consists of 18 interactive panels that encourage children to follow the signs throughout the park while reading the story and performing the various activities related to art. The current display features the book, “The Dot” written by Peter Reynolds. The Berea Story Trail was developed by Heather Dent through a competition conducted through Berea College’s Air Institute. Funding for the project was provided by the City of Berea. On October 3rd, Mayor Fraley, City Administrator David Gregory, Parks Director Priscilla Bloom, Berea Chamber of Commerce Executive Director David Rowlette and Ms. Dent conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony in the park for the new Berea Story Trail. Please bring the family out to the park to check out the new trail.
