• State of Michigan Agency that provide enhanced employment and education services to U.S. Military veterans and their eligible spouses

• To be considered a veteran by Federal Regulations, one must have served on active duty for more than 180 days, or have been discharged (under other than dishonorable) or released from active duty due to a service-connected disability

VETERANS’ SERVICES DIVISION

• Assist veterans with finding the appropriate federal, state, or local entities, for the reintegration process

• Assist veterans in finding employment• Help explain to veterans their benefits and entitlements• Promote hiring of veterans (Job Developments)• Educate private sector employers and governmental

agencies on the benefits of hiring veterans

Veterans’ Reintegration• Separation from active service

– Transition Assistance Program (TAP)

• Guard and Reserve demobilization– Transition Assistance Program (TAP)

• Penal system releases (military and civilian)– Incarcerated Veterans’ Program– Pre-release Counseling and Employment Services– Veterans’ Court

• Expand partnerships with governmental entities, Veterans’ Service Organizations, and other community agencies

• Maintain Division Web site and State Veterans’ Hotline• Research veteran issues, collect data on returning

veterans and develop reports• Coordinate staff training• Implement legislative mandates

2. If it is determined that the veteran will need more intensive job seeking services they will be referred to the LVER/DVOW in the service center.
