Get Started Navigate to the employee using My Team OR Search for Terminate Employee From related actions of your employee, select Job Change, then Terminate Employee Search for Employee Follow the Prompts 1 Enter the Primary Reason for termination from the options in the search function. Tip! Choose an accurate termination reason, these reason codes will be reported to the State for unemployment claims purposes. Contact your Employee Success Partner if you have questions on what reason to use. 2 Enter a Termination Date, (this is the last day the person is employed with T-Mobile). The employee’s Last Day of Work, Pay Through Date and Resignation Date will auto populate based on the Termination Date and can be changed if needed. 3 The Regrettable field is optional; A regrettable termination designates that this voluntary termination was a loss to the organization, the employee was valuable, and it is regrettable that they are leaving. 4 If you are not planning on backfilling the position, you should close the position. For more information, please refer to our Close Position Grab ‘N Go. Tip! Use the comments section to address: Future Time Worked: Enter information regarding any future time that an employee will work. Be sure to include in and out punches, dates and type of pay. Pay through Details for Hourly Employees: If you entered a Pay through Date in order to pay the employee after their last day, indicate the actual hours you want the employee to be paid. Address for Final Pay: Provide the address that the final pay should be delivered to if other than the employee’s home address on file. 5 Use the Attachment section to upload resignation letters for voluntary terminations and select the Category Resignation Letter. Tip! For Involuntary terminations, please ensure all PIP or Final Incident documentation has been provided to your Employee Success Partner for the personnel file or uploaded in Workday during the PIP process.

1 Enter the Primary Reason for termination from the options in the search function.

▪ Separation Checklist (involuntary or voluntary, depending on the type of termination):

1. Navigate to the Actions tab of your inbox.

2. Select the Terminate task.

3. Once the checklist is completed, select .

▪ View the task in your Inbox under the Archive tab.

▪ The change will immediately display on the effective date in Workday.

Good to Know!

1 Use the & buttons to expand or collapse the help text and helpful links at the top of the page.

2 It is the manager's responsibility to ensure that there is no time entered on the employee's timecard after the termination date provided below.

3 Final pay will be paid out on the next regular pay date unless compliance requirements or comments state otherwise.

4 If your employee DID NOT START on their first day and had no hours worked, please do not proceed with this termination and NOTIFY YOUR TALENT SCOUT who will complete the next steps.

FAQs

1 What does “Position Overlap” mean?

The Position Overlap feature in Workday allows two workers to be in the same position at the same time. This supports recruiting needs to prefill a position with an `overlap’ worker prior to the current incumbent’s exit from the position due to a future dated exit event. Future dated exit events (such as transfers & terminations) give users the option to select position overlap.

2 What is the Termination Checklist and what are my responsibilities?

Separation Responsibilities can be found on T-Nation. Depending on if the termination is voluntary or involuntary the responsibilities will vary. Termination Separation Checklist for Voluntary Separations as well as Involuntary Separations can be found on T-Nation. Contact your Employee Success Partner for more information on the termination process.

3 What is the Termination Date vs. the Effective Date?

The Termination Date and the Effective Date is the same date.

4 Why am I getting an error when I try to close the position?

You will not be able to close a position from the Terminate Employee task, it will result in an error. Discuss any position closures with your Employee Success Partner. After you have submitted the termination, search close position in the search box and select the close position task.
