Malaysia Social Security Organization (SOCSO)

Established on the 1st of January 1971 as a Government Department to enforce the Employees’ Social Security Act, 1969, Self-Employment Social Security Act, 2017

and Employment Insurance System Act, 2018. Became a Statutory Body on 1st July 1985 to provide the following services to its members:

• Medical benefits

• To carry out accident prevention activities

• To provide physical and vocational rehabilitation

• Temporary financial assistance to support workers who are losing their jobs

SOCSO Tun Razak Rehabilitation Centre

• First integrated medical and vocational rehabilitation center by SOCSO

• Started Operations on 1 October 2014

• Rehabilitating 1300 SOCSO insured person annually with various disabilities

• Rehabilitation process covers physical rehabilitation and vocational rehabilitation for insured person to re-enter the working community through case management and early intervention

Overview SOCSO Tun Razak Rehabilitation Centre (TRRC)


o Specialized multidisciplinary rehabilitation services along with vocational services with an interdisciplinary team.

o While the patient receives a combined expertise of a multidisciplinary care team selected especially for themselves, they will be geared by another set of an interdisciplinary team that will be able to direct them with the vocational rehabilitation services in gearing them to their return to work or improvement in the quality of their life (for patients with debilitating conditions.

o Both interdisciplinary teams from the physical and the vocational services work hand-in-hand to achieve goals set by both the patient and the treating therapists.
