CSMI offers a Work Simulation Package for the HUMAC

NORM Testing & Rehabilitation System that allows clinicians

to simulate an unlimited number of real-life and occupational

conditions. With this valuable addition to the HUMAC NORM,

clinicians can be assured safe patient progression and be

confident in their return-to-work decisions.

The Work Simulation Package consists of real-time work

adapters that use customized patterns to duplicate specific

sets of working conditions. Protocols and operating modes are

dictated by the “task” being performed, and are determined by

the clinician and the patient's prescribed therapy.

The Work Simulation Package expands the rehabilitation and

testing versatility of the HUMAC NORM. It offers clinicians

a complete range of applications for all types of therapy

and rehabilitation.

The AdaptersHandles and knobs of different sizes and shapes simulate a variety of real-time hand/wrist movements:From turning a doorknob or opening a jar, to operating a

valve or wheel. For example, a special gripping deviceprovides the grip strengthening motion needed to turn a screw-driver or use a pair of pliers.

A universal tool adapter is provided that will interfacethe use of “real” shop tools, such as wrenches andratchets. A push/pull device is also available that simu-lates activities such as shoveling, raking and sweeping.

Tasks involving different muscle groups of the hand,wrist, arm and upper torso can be performed in eitherseated or standing positions by simply adjusting theangle of the attached adapter and the height and tilt of the dynamometer.

The Dynamometer

The HUMAC NORM Dynamometer will rotate 3,600 ineach direction. This unique ability allows clinicians to bet-ter simulate continuous real-world turning patterns suchas opening a value or turning a screwdriver.

The SoftwareThe Work Simulation software package is a fully inte-grated part of the HUMAC NORM. It is available to theclinician at any time during a testing or rehabilitationprocedure in the following modes: isokinetic, dynamicramping, isotonic, isometric, concentric, eccentric,CPM and active assist.

The HUMAC NORM Software guides the clinicianthrough each set-up process, and a visual feedbackscreen provides a self-competing, visual progressrecord for each patient. In additional, the softwarecontains a full explanation for adapter placement onthe dynamometer to address each testing and rehabili-tation application. When testing or rehabilitation isconcluded, the accumulated data is then stored in thepatient's permanent record for use in status reports,bilateral comparisons and progress reports.
