Heard about the prestigious Raffles City project in the news and a Korean Construction company is the main contractor award to build the project. Q Were you aware of Ssangyong E&C prior to joining the company? No, only know that there is Ssangyong Cement in Singapore. Q What are the things you’ve realized after you began your employment with Ssangyong E&C? What’s good: As it was my 1st experience with a cons- truction company, I was able to learn how a building is build right from the piling to completion. What needs to be improved: Ssangyong E&C need to have a group of core subcontractors to follow Ssangyong E&C projects to be able to keep good quality and know how and what Ssangyong E&C standards and requirement are. Q What is your impression about your colleagues at Ssangyong E&C? Generally very cooperative and those who are junior are willing to learn. On Your Role & Responsibilities at Ssangyong E&C Q What has been the greatest challenge in your career at Ssangyong E&C? My greatest challenge was the 1st time I was in charge of the design team without the Korean team Manager. Q What was the most rewarding experience you’ve had at Ssangyong E&C? The most rewarding experienced I have is to complete W-Hotel successfully notwithstanding the many obstacles and challenges. Q Do you have a goal that you’d like to achieve with Ssangyong E&C? My goal is to be able to train a local Design Manager to take over me when I retire, however this is also a challenge now in the construction industry. Other Q Please let us know if you have anything else to share. It is a good sign that Ssangyong E&C is moving towards local-ization in Singapore. This is the 1st project that has local managers to head some departments.

I worked with Hyundai as Design Manager for almost 9 years prior

to that I worked with difference consultants firm like DP Design, ADDP, Alfred Wong partnership and RG Architects.

I was recommended by my friend who's currently working at Daewoo.

Yes.

QWhat are the things you’ve realized after you began your employment with Ssangyong E&C?

I realized that full coordination is continuously required between departments from Three companies.

QWhat is your impression about your colleagues at Ssangyong E&C?

There are all willing to be cooperative.

Leading the design team from three companies with difference cultures and back grounds.

I leave in Singapore for more than 20 years. Positive is employment and career opportunities and negative is depending on what is your expectation from career.
