I was looking out the window from my office at home and the ground and trees were covered in white, fluffy snow. There was a redbird sitting perfectly still on one of the tree branches. It was beautiful and breathtaking, something you would see on the cover of a greeting card! I immediately turned around to grab my phone to take a picture and he was gone, just like that! I stared out the window for several minutes, hoping the redbird would come back. I continued my search throughout the day as I worked; peeking out of the window from time to time, awaiting his return, saddened to see he never made another appearance. Reflecting on this, I realized how we are so quick to grab our phones and take a picture, text a friend, or post our latest status. However, in doing so, we are living life behind a lens. Cheryl “Action” Jackson has been hailed as a Renaissance woman who delivers dynamic messages of how faith, determination and action all work together to create success!

Professional Development

Servant Leadership: A Business Management Strategy

Presenter: Greg Provance, Cohn Restaurant Group Date: April 7, 2015 Time: 3:00 pm ET

Servant Leadership is both a leadership philosophy and set of leadership practices. Traditional leadership generally involves the accumulation and exercise of power by one at the “top of the pyramid”. By comparison, the servant leader shares power, puts the needs of others first and helps people develop and perform as highly as possible.

In this session, you will learn:

• Why being the best you is essential to the success of those you manage • The role of self-reflection in management • Why mastering character development above all else is key • How to lead with more confidence • The secret ingredient to success and growth in your business

Greg Provance is an entertainment and hospitality professional, currently in the role of General Manager of Vintana, a member of the esteemed Cohn Restaurant Group in San Diego, CA. His mission is to help others to benefit from the culture he has helped to create in his business, by learning how to practice the principles that drive success.
