FOREWORD 2021 learning catalogue

2020 has changed the global norms that have been the backdrop for business over the last century. All over the world we are seeing an accelerating shift towards a digital world, with a huge emphasis being placed on automation and artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the workplace. In these rapidly changing times, it is imperative that we enhance our knowledge, skills and efficiency in order to be able to continue delivering the highest quality services. It is the Academy’s priority to guide you as you embark on your learning journey. I encourage you to explore the 2021 learning catalogue, so that you can take full advantage of the educational opportunities we provide. The events and courses cover a vast array of topics, from IP protection for SME’s to IP and AI. Despite the current crisis, we are determined to continue organising a wide range of IP events in 2021, albeit in an online or blended format, to conform to the constant changes and developments in the ongoing situation. We will continue to offer our stakeholders (including the academic community) conferences, events and webinars with the aim of promoting cooperation, peer learning and an exchange of views. Given the multitude of topics that our IP events will cover, I am certain there will be something for everyone. The Academy is committed to the constant improvement of its webinars and is therefore implementing several measures to extend their outreach and increase engagement. These measures include new broadcasting technologies, pre-registration and visible live questions and polls. In terms of content, and in accordance with the EUIPO’s focus on supporting and enhancing the IP protection of SMEs, a set of webinars aimed at SMEs are scheduled to be produced. Issues covered will include cybersecurity, where to find pro bono IP services, and how to develop and expand your business. Specialised education programmes to meet the training needs of specific groups of professionals are also forthcoming. In response to the success of the EUIPO Trade Mark and Design Education Programme, currently in its 3rd edition, the Academy is preparing a specialised Education Programme for Paralegals to be launched in 2021. Visit the EUIPO Academy Learning Portal to explore our e-learning offer. New content and courses are constantly being added to the already extensive collection. Our learning catalogue will give you a first glimpse of the learning opportunities that lie ahead in 2021 — and I hope it will spark your interest in joining us on the path to learning, knowledge sharing and growing together.
