I am writing this letter to inform you of the activities that Lynn will be involved with this year in my social studies class. Lynn will learn new and exciting things. My goal is to inform Lynn of the fundamental aspects of social studies: history, geography, government and economics. In order for Lynn to learn the fundamental aspects of social studies, we will start with the American symbols. The American symbols include the national and state flags, the bald eagle, the Statue of Liberty, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, White House, Pledge of Allegiance, and Star Spangled Banner. Lynn will be bringing home reading and other various homework assignments as well as quizzes and tests throughout the year. I am hoping that you Mr. and Mrs. David Hendrix are willing to help Lynn with these assignments, as it will help her success in the class. As you may know, this school year will be my first in my teaching career. I encourage you and your child to come to me through the year with new and creative ideas that I may incorporate in my lesson plans. I hope to take the class on many field trips, so if there are any interesting places that you and Lynn may want to go on let me know, I will try to fit it in as it pertains to our lesson. I am excited to meet you all and hope Lynn is ready to jump into a new year. Sincerely,
