Your Home's Value May Be Reduced By 10% Or More Salt River Project (SRP) is conducting a decision making process that seeks to create momentum behind an SRP solution to sell additional power to Intel and businesses that don't yet exist in the Price Road Corridor. While the primary beneficiaries of this arrangement are SRP, the corporations they sell power to, and Chandler's tax base, the neighbors in and around the new high tension wires will suffer reduction in their property values, potential health concerns, and a disruption in the visual amenities of the homes they invested in. As seen from the SRP website (http://www.azpower.org/priceroadcorridor/pdf/Phase1alts.pdf ) these poles will run from the Schrader Substation West on Ocotillo, South on Arizona to either Riggs or Hunt, West on Riggs/Hunt, then North on Old Price Rd to approximately Octotillo where they will conclude at a new Substa- tion indicated above as RS-28 which would be not far from the NW corner of Oakwood. That means Sun Lakes would be SURROUNDED ON THREE SIDES by these poles. Yet the Chandler tax base would benefit from increased tax revenue of future corporate customers and the not lowering of Chandler home values because the 150' poles would run through Sun Lakes and not Chandler. All the benefits go to Chandler, all the negatives go to Sun Lakes. What would the estimated financial impact be on Sun Lakes property values? There are 9,967 homes & Villas in Sun Lakes. Assume an average price of $250,000 and a 10% property devaluation. That means the total devaluation to Sun Lakes property value is $249.2 Million! (9967 x 10% x $250,000). That's 1/4 BILLION DOLLARS of devaluation for Sun Lakes homes! Send this email along with a copy of the Petition to all your friends, neighbors and Snowbirds.

Your Home's Value May Be Reduced By 10% Or More

Salt River Project (SRP) is conducting a decision making process that seeks to create momentum behind an SRPsolution to sell additional power to Intel and businesses that don't yet exist in the Price Road Corridor. Whilethe primary beneficiaries of this arrangement are SRP, the corporations they sell power to, and Chandler's taxbase, the neighbors in and around the new high tension wires will suffer reduction in their property values, potential health concerns, and a disruption in the visual amenities of the homes they invested in.

As seen from the SRP website (http://www.azpower.org/priceroadcorridor/pdf/Phase1alts.pdf) these poles willrun from the Schrader Substation West on Ocotillo, South on Arizona to either Riggs or Hunt, West onRiggs/Hunt, then North on Old Price Rd to approximately Octotillo where they will conclude at a new Substa-tion indicated above as RS-28 which would be not far from the NW corner of Oakwood.

That means Sun Lakes would be SURROUNDED ON THREE SIDES by these poles. Yet the Chandler taxbase would benefit from increased tax revenue of future corporate customers and the not lowering of Chandlerhome values because the 150' poles would run through Sun Lakes and not Chandler. All the benefits go toChandler, all the negatives go to Sun Lakes.

What would the estimated financial impact be on Sun Lakes property values?

There are 9,967 homes & Villas in Sun Lakes. Assume an average price of $250,000 and a 10% property

devaluation. That means the total devaluation to Sun Lakes property value is $249.2 Million! (9967 x 10% x

$250,000). That's 1/4 BILLION DOLLARS of devaluation for Sun Lakes homes!

What is SRP proposing?

SRP is seeking permission from the Arizona Corporation Commission to build 150' power poles along HuntHighway, Riggs Road or other streets north of Sun Lakes to provide power to Intel and future industrialcompanies in the Price Road Corridor.

230,000 voltage wires will be placed on massive steel poles along Riggs Road or Hunt Highway betweenArizona Avenue and Old Price Road and then north along Old Price Road. This voltage is almost 1,000times higher than what is entering your house. A pole this high will likely be above the horizon for EVERYSUN LAKES HOME. http://www.azpower.org/priceroadcorridor/default.asp

This is what Riggs/Hunt might look like with 150' SRP poles. The first pole is to scale. Again, these poleswould surround Sun Lakes on three sides.

Actual views from a patio of existing poles, 200' from the patio. Looking closely at the 2nd picture one can see asmaller power pole (left of the larger pole) which is comparable to the poles currently on Riggs. These hugepoles are what would surround Sun Lakes on three sides, as well as being viewable from just about everylocation within the Sun Lakes community.

What's the REAL Solution?

Bury the lines between the Substations! While more expensive, it can be done and has been done before. Thetechnology exists for burying high voltage power lines. When Sun Lakes was developed, SRP charged thebuilder to bury the power lines, and the builder charged us in turn when we bought our house. So we paid forthis pristine environment. That is fair and reasonable.

Conversely, SRP now wants to have Sun Lakes shoulder the aesthetic burden (and potential health concerns) forerecting 150' power poles surrounding our neighborhood, for the benefit of Chandler, instead of burying thelines and charging the new users - like we were charged when we bought our houses. That is neither fair nor

reasonable.

How can you help .

The key to success in fighting the SRP Price Road Corridor Project is involvement by the all affected homeown-ers. All homeowners within our community will suffer from lower comparable prices when they try to sell theirhomes.

Ask yourself these questions: Would you have bought your house if it was surrounded by these 150' eyesores? Would you have bought without knowing of potential health hazards of these 150' monstrosities? Neither will prospective buyers when you try and sell.

Talk to your friends and neighbors. Get yourself and them involved! Along with yourself, have them sign thePetition to stop SRP from erecting the 150' power poles along Riggs and/or Hunt Hwy. Time is of essencebecause SRP will soon be making recommendations to the Arizona Corporation Commission on their recom-mended routes.

Once again, Chandler is going to benefit from the increased tax base of the new business along the Price Roadcorridor. If the power lines are not going to be buried, then the 150' poles should in installed in and throughChandler, NOT Sun Lakes. We need to make this clear to SRP and the Arizona Corporation Commission.

What is COOP?

Citizens Opposed to Overhead Power lines (COOP) is a small independent group of homeowners from theSun Lakes area determined to prevent SRP from installing those horrendous 150' poles in and around Sun

Lakes. This Committee is working for you but we cannot do it alone. We need your help in this effort.

Please visit http://coopsunlakes.wordpress.com/srp-petition or email us at [email protected]

Express your opposition to overhead lines at the SRP website: http://www.azpower.org/priceroadcorridorScroll down and use the

“Online Comment form” in the “Contact Us Section”

The bottom line is, if YOU sit back and say

"What's the use?", "SRP will get what they want", or in general stay apathetic,

then YOU'LL soon be "enjoying" the view of these new 150' power poles and all the negatives that come

with them. Get involved! Help stop this nonsense.
