The Academic Coordinator will have oversight over: Coordinating the initial authorization of the school’s International Baccalaureate programmes (pending Board of Director approval) Coordinating the professional development requirements for teachers of the IB, IGCSE, and AP examination courses Organizing, collecting and reviewing curriculum documents for every class offered, ensuring the school’s Portfolio for Learning and Teaching is kept up-to-date Working with the VP in ensuring vertical & horizontal alignment of curriculum and assessment Working with teachers and Heads of Departments to facilitate the identification of interdisciplinary opportunities including in the areas of Academic Technology and STEAM Creating summarizing academic documents for both internal & external use Working with the Education Team to review, create or change academic policies Informing and advising the school leadership and, where necessary, the school community regarding all aspects of IB/AP/IGCSE programme requirements Ensuring that appropriate academic records are kept and communicated through Skyward Working with the Heads of Departments to ensure that each Understanding by Design unit’s learning outcomes are clearly articulated and validly assessed Proposing academic staffing requirements to the Vice Principal

Working with the Vice Principal to ensure that a clear philosophy of assessment is well articulated and understood by all teachers

With the Vice Principal, ensuring the alignment of teaching, learning and assessment with the overall philosophy of the school (Eliciting Greatness and Desired Learning Outcomes)

2. The Academic Coordinator will have direction over:

Generating, and clearly articulating, both short and long term academic goals Managing and coordinating the programme of external exams throughout the school Choosing, collecting and interpreting data and information to be used to assess student status

and progress, including analysing and summarizing external exam data Communicating effectively with all constituencies of the school with the goal of fostering a

strong, vibrant and informed community Monitoring students’ progress and initiating appropriate and timely action to address

problems as well as to commend achievement and progress. Working with teachers to ensure effective assessment of student learning, giving non-

evaluative coaching for teachers who are seeking to improve the quality of their assessing o Generate student status reports on a weekly basis o Manage academic probation policies

Initiating appropriate and timely action to address problems, as well as commend achievement and progress

The school Honor Council, overseeing the handling of any instances of academic dishonesty Referring students, as needs arise, to the appropriate member of the guidance and

counselling team, Learning assistance, Health Centre or appropriate external agency

3. The Academic Coordinator will have an assigned teaching load and will be responsible for all duties and responsibilities associated with the role of academic staff at Woodstock School.
