Artists and fi ne craftsmen in Woodstock and throughout McHenry County will be opening their studios to display and sell their work. The self guided tour will showcase the exceptional art and fi ne crafts produced in the region.
Maps available at Material Things Artisan Market – 103 E. Van Buren St on the historic Woodstock Square or can be downloaded at www.wpbw.org. Be sure to visit the award winning Woodstock Farmers Market when picking up your maps.
The tour will feature a wide range of work including pottery, painting, art glass, jewelry, photography and mixed media. Visit the artist’s web sites to learn more about their talent.

JOHANNA GULLICK: Johanna works in acrylic, oil and watercolor. She enjoys painting landscapes, fl orals and fi gurative subjects. Her style is a combination of realism and abstraction, that blending allows her to work more expressively with color. She is a full time professional artist who works out of her studio at Lakeside Legacy Arts Park in Crystal Lake.

GAIL MORELAND: A native Midwesterner, Gail’s photographs refl ect the simplicity of the rural Midwestern landscape. The photographs are straightforward, yet through the restrained use of color, the images do not intrude. Weathered sheds, sandy beach paths and meandering streams are her favorite subjects. Gail also photographs food and wine using natural light.

KIM BRIX: Kim creates functional and decorative fuses glass pieces inspired the natural prairie surrounding her studio. Fused glass artwork involves designing, layering and kiln fi ring translucent and opalescent glass to temperatures exceeding 1400 F. Guest Artist: Debby Henning: Debby’s Zebra Arts creates hand dyed scarves using bolts of silk and rayon. Each item is dyed using a variety of colors and manipulations to add texture and interest. She also creates hand bound books with stitching techniques dating to the 16th century. BLUE EAGLE POTTERY: Award winning potters Robert Blue and Susan Blue Galloway create functional and decorative pottery. All work is hand thrown on a potters wheel, altered, reassembled and decorated with colored glazes. The pottery is fi red in a reduction gas fi red kiln. The microwave and dishwasher safe pieces are lead free and food safe.

KAREN HILLARD GOOD: This nationally acclaimed artist is mostly known for her children’s book illustrations and her calendar paintings for The Lang Companies over the past 15 years. However in her “down time” she loves to play with paint and mixed media. Stop by her quirky little art studio and see what she is up to next.

BLAKE MUELLER: Collage and Assemblage. A blend of found objects and images. After creatively composing the subject, a variety of drawing and painting media are applied. Blake’s unique works are displayed at his Woodstock studio surrounded by magnifi cent gardens.
Guest Artist: Betsy Greene: Handmade Jewelry. A combination of found objects, copper, metal and gem elements. Birch bark, fi ligree, twigs, watch parts and glass beads are part of the canvass that becomes a piece of statement jewelry. GAIL AND THOMAS TRAUSCH:Trausch Fine Arts Gallery and Studio features the paintings and illustrations of husband & wife Thomas and Gail Trausch. Thomas works mostly in oil and watercolor paintings, many of his works are “plein air”. Gale focuses her paintings and illustrations on nature related subjects.

KAREN STAHLECKER of WILLOAKS STUDIO creates jewelry and wearable art. Working in three dimensions gives her the space to use a plethora of different materials, from gold and silver, to silk and linen and pearls and gemstones. Often inspired by aspects of nature, she has developed a number of unique forms and original wearable pieces.
Guest Artist: Denise Hoover Denise’s work is about “the here and now”. She uses materials and surfaces that present themselves to her. Color is an important force for her both singularly and in multiplicity. Her large paintings and mixed media work will be displayed with Karen’s work in the rehabbed Old Armory Building in Woodstock.
