Fitting Instructions For Faux Wood Blinds

Warning Please take care when unpacking your blind, do not use a knife or any sharp objects when unpacking.

Choose where to mount the brackets. The brackets are universal type that can be used for side, face and top/ ceiling mounting

    Step One. Fitting the brackets

Place the end fix brackets onto a headrail and measure where the blind is to hang, ensure it is centred and level to ensure the smooth operation of the blind. Pencil mark each side of the blind including the brackets as fixing points for brackets.

    • Wooden Pelmets/ fascias

    • Child safety cleat.

  • Remove the brackets from the headrail, hold bracket in position, door open and mark hole positions. Repeat for both brackets. Insert and tighten screws through slots.

    Step Two. Fitting the blind/headrail

For larger width blinds a centre support bracket is required. Align the top of the centre support bracket with the top of the mounting bracket before installation. Install with the bigger flap of the centre support bracket on he top equally spaced along the width of the headrail and clear of the slat ladder position

Ensure that brackets are positioned a suitable distance away from any window, door handles or any other obstructions to allow the blind to operate smoothly.

Attach a minimum of 2 plasticfascia clips over the edge ofthe headrail & engage.

Do not fit fascia until blind is safely in place

    Headrail

When the brackets have been fitted to the window area, holding the blind, with cords out, slide headrail into brackets. Close bracket doors securely to ensure the blind is locked in place.

  • Step Three. Attaching the fascia

    1. Place the safety cleat in thedesired position on the wall and mark the positions of the holes with a pencil.

    2. Drill the holes. Use screws to attachthe safety cleat to the wall.

    3. Wrap the cords around the cordcleats in a figure of 8. When thecords are fully accumulated ensurethey are secure so when any cord ispulled no excess cord is released.

Step Four. Fitting the child safety cleat

The child safe cord cleat must be installed at the minimum distance possible from the control mechanism and minimum 1.5 m from floor.

    HeadrailFascia

    Fascia clips into front

Wooden fascias may be supplied at a longer length for customers to cut to size. This is the industry standard.

To cut down your fascia, measure to the correct length and cut down with a hack-saw.

Child Safety Breakaway DeviceA cord consolidator is fitted to this blind. Its purpose is to reduce the possibility of ahazardous cord loop forming. It will breakapart if undue pressure is applied, but afterinspection, can be reconnected again.

DO NOT modify this device to stop its break apart capability

  • EXPERT ADVICE

If you pull the cord to open or close the blind but the blind doesn’t move, then take the blind down and look inside the headrail to make sure that the metal tilt rod is fully engaged with the sidewinder mecha-nism. This rod should rotate when the side chain is pulled. If it doesn’t, take off the headrail end cap located at the opposite end of the rail to the chain mechanism and push the metal rod until it’s fully en-gaged with the sidewinder mechanism. The chain should now rotate the rod.Caring for your blind• Do not allow moisture to settle on the blinds. . • Wipe louvres with a clean damp cloth. Do not use any type of detergent to clean your blind.

    • Do not oil or lubricate any part of the blind to prevent damaging the operating mechanism or the fabric of your blind..

    Make it safe

Use cord control to travers the louvres and chain control to rotate them.Alternatively, for wand operated blinds, the wand traverses and rotates the louvres.

    • Move beds, cots and furniture away from window covering cords.

    • Do not tie cords together.

    • Make sure cords do not twist and create a loop.. Want to see how it’s done? Watch our video fitting guides on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/directblinds

Step Five. To operate the blind

Do not travers blinds with louvres in closed position. Always turn them 90° to the track.

Child Safety Legislation dictates that the headrailof this blind should NOT be fitted lower than 1.5 metres

    (approx. 60”) from floor level.

Young children can be strangled by loops in pull cords, chains, tapes and inner cords that operate the product.
