Head Shaping: Note: The formation of the head will have you sealing the gap betweenthe stitches. This will allow you the ability to stuff the head lateron with poly-ll. Arrange stitches evenly on two needles by placingthe rst 8 on one needle and the remaining 8 are on a second needle.Hold needles parallel to each other. With a spare needle, pick 1 st offrst needle, then 1 st off second needle. Continue until all sts are onone needle. Transfer sts back to the two needles but reversed so thatthey cross, sealing the gap. The 1st st that came from the front needleis returned to the back needle and the 2nd st that came from the backneedle is now on the front. Be careful to keep an even tension. Pulling too hard oloosely can distort the shape. See diagram for sample face.Horns: Fill with poly-ll and whipstitch to top of head between the ears.

Mane: This is also known as a Latch Hook technique. Using CC1, cut yarn int/ 15 cm lengths. Take three pieces of yarn and fold in half. Find the center stitchruns down the back of the Giraffes head and insert a crochet hook into the leg stitch and loop from the bottom up. Hook them with the crochet hook and pullslightly through the loop. Take the ends of yarn and pull them through the looping them down snugly. Continue adding this fringe until you have 3 rows centbetween the horns on top of head. Trim the ends to even and shape the mane.Spots: Using the tail from cast on and bind off, backstitch the spots onto thbody of the blanket.Weave in all ends.

Main Blanket: The body of the blanket is worked in stripes by switching between every two rows. Head Shaping: Note: The formation of the head will have you sealing the gap between thestitches. This will allow you the ability to stuff the head later on with poly-ll.Arrange stitches evenly on two needles by placing the rst 8 on one needleand the remaining 8 are on a second needle. Hold needles parallel to eachother. With a spare needle, pick 1 st off rst needle, then 1 st off second needle.Continue until all sts are on one needle. Transfer sts back to the two needlesbut reversed so that they cross, sealing the gap. The 1st st that came from the

front needle is returned to the back needle and the 2nd st that came from theback needle is now on the front. Once all stitches have been transferred onto2 needles, divide them evenly over 4 needles (4 sts per needle). Needles 1&2will represent the face and Needles 3&4 are the back of the head.

Rnd 1) MC knit.

Rnd 2) MC kfb of each stitch.[32 sts]

Rnd 3) CC1 knit until 1 st on the end of needle 4, turn, sl1, purl across to1 st at the end of needle 3, turn, sl1, knit to end of round.

Tip: Weave in ends from color switch and start to stuff with poly-ll beforeopening gets too narrow.

Rnds 29) MC knit. Continue in MC for remainder of pattern.

Rnd 30) * K1, k2tog, rep from * to end of round.[16 sts]Rnd 31) K2tog to end of round. [8 sts]Rnd 32) K2tog to end of round. [4 sts]Break yarn and after lling the head with more poly-ll, close up the noseby cinching up the stitches and weaving in the end.

Finishing: Ears: Place wrong sides together andwith the tails of the inner ear whipstitchalong edge of outer ear. Pinch the baseof the ear and using the tail of the outerear, whipstitch it closed. Use this sametail to whip stitch onto top of head.

Face: Use complementary embroideryoss and make satin stitch eyes andnose. Cut a 3 foot length and separate

the plies so youre working with onlytwo or three plies at a time. Be carefulto keep an even tension. Pulling toohard or loosely can distort the shape.See diagram for sample face.

Mane: This is also known as a Latch Hooktechnique. Using MC, cut yarn into 6 in /15 cm lengths. Take three pieces of yarnand fold in half. Find the center stitch thatruns down the back of the Zebras headand insert a crochet hook into the leg of thestitch and loop from the bottom up. Hookthem with the crochet hook and pull themslightly through the loop. Take the ends ofyarn and pull them through the loopdrawing them down snugly. Continueadding this fringe until you have 3 rowscentered between the ears running fromtop to back of head. Trim the ends to evenand shape the mane.

Weave in all ends.
