Slide 5
Wonthaggi Secondary College Digital Outreach Program 2015 Risks
in not intervening. Early school leavers are at much greater risk
for remaining unemployed in the longer term, earning considerably
lower wages when they are employed, and are likely to struggle to
accumulate wealth over their lifespan (Deloitte Access Economics,
2012). Ultimately, these outcomes can result in higher costs to
society in the form of health, welfare and criminal justice burdens
(European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training
[Cedefop], 2010).
Slide 6
Wonthaggi Secondary College Digital Outreach Program 2015 Youth
mental health challenges 7 people a day in Australia will die by
suicide. 75% of all psychological problems start under the age of
25. 50% of all psychological problems start under the age of 15.
More people die by their own hand than are killed in road accidents
or by skin cancer. (Michael Carr-Gregg [National Youth Mental
Health Conference] - 2015).
Slide 7
Wonthaggi Secondary College Digital Outreach Program 2015 Youth
mental health challenges Suicide is the leading cause of death for
young people aged 15 to 24 (Australian Bureau of Statistics [ABS],
2009). Isolation. Anxiety, panic, social disorders. Going to school
physically untenable. Disconnect from service provision.
Disengagement from community.

Blended Learning definition of blended learning is that it involves
some element of student control of time, place, path, and/or pace.
(Roadmap for Reform, (2011)]. lead to higher-level and higher order
thinking skills [Pregot, (2013)]. Moodle as armature/scaffold touch
base and consistent non-threatening engagement.

Anxiety(.4). [Hattie, Visible Learning (2009)]
Slide 13

effect pitfalls Hattie low effects. home visiting (0.29); web-based
learning (0.18); home-school programs (0.16); distance education
(0.09). [Hattie, Visible Learning (2009)] Outreach is about
engagement, pathways and partnerships. Regular and meaningful
relationships counteract the low effects in our experience.
