    WONDERLAND AMUSEMENT PARKOfficial Statement 4.28.16

Following the recent experience of Mr. Delbert Latham and his six-year-old son on the Mouse

Trap Rollercoaster, Wonderland Amusement Park in Amarillo, Texas underwent an

independent insurance inspection in order to ensure the safety of Park rides.

Tom Dorgan, who is a third-party amusement park ride inspector certified by the National

Association of Ride Safety Officials (NARSO), completed a full inspection of the Mouse Trap.

“We found no deficiencies in this ride. With the most recent incident regarding the lap belt, we

found no deficiency in the belt, in the belt being attached to the car or the buckle that

allegedly failed. There was no failure in the buckle that I can determine,” reported Dorgan.

“This particular buckle is widely used in the industry. It’s a plastic molded buckle that has a

very positive lock. These are fairly new and they are very good and they are very strong. I

attempted to pull them apart and can’t,” said Dorgan.

State law requires Amusement Park operators to have an annual inspection by an authorized

inspector of the Park’s insurance carrier. In 65 years of operation, Wonderland Park has

never failed an inspection. Additionally, all rides at Wonderland Park undergo several layers of

inspection every day before the Park opens to the public.

Below, please find a YouTube link of an on-camera interview conducted with Mr. Tom Dorgan

on the morning of April 28th at Wonderland Park regarding his findings.
