A 250-mile charity quest in January got her in shape, but Denise Van Outen, 41, is not ready to put her bike away just yet. ‘Cycling to work gives me a challenge,’ says the mum-of-one. ‘Granted, it’s not as extreme as my previous exploits, but the morning rush I get is great.’ And it hasn’t been bad for her body, either. ‘When I had my daughter, I put on 2st, but rather than fad diets, cycling gives me the confdence to wear what I want.’ Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid, 44, and Kate Garraway, 48, got themselves and the nation in shape last month with the show’s Tough Mums challenge. It involved a gruelling obstacle course complete with drill sergeant, and celebs Michelle Heaton, Kelly Hoppen and Sam Bailey joining the ‘lucky’ selected viewers. Susanna showed her new- found strength by lifting GMB host Ben Shephard in the air before the event, while Kate did tricep dips during ad breaks. ‘Tough Mums will push them to their limits, but it’s a great challenge,’ said Susanna. That’s as good as an hour pottering around.’ NOW IT’S YOUR TURN HIIT is great if you’re short of time, but check with your GP, as it’s not suitable if you have high blood pressure. You’ll build muscle, boost endurance and burn calories in a 20-minute session, but you have to really push yourself. Try alternating 30 seconds of sprinting with 30 seconds of walking, or 30 seconds of push-ups with 10 seconds of rest. Most gyms have starter classes.
