Registered Practitioner Award

All horses can benefit from sports and rehabilitation massage. Equine massage therapists

employ massage techniques on competition, leisure and companion horses. When muscles

are overused or misused, they can become sore or overstretched. The horse may then

compensate by improperly using other muscles or tensing up, leading to potential injury,

restricted motion, discomfort and decreased performance quality. This course is designed to

give students knowledge of different massage techniques and equine anatomy to locate and

treat muscle strains, injuries and tension. By promoting muscle relaxation, circulation and

healing, we can improve the horses performance, balance and comfort.

Massage can be helpful in maintaining health and preventing injury in addition to addressing

problems. Students will learn how to prevent muscle knots ensuring that muscles can fully

contract and relax using the extensive course material provided studying the intellectual art

of equine massage. The following four modules along with the practical training days will

guide students through the stages needed to become competent Equine Sports &

Rehabilitation Massage Therapists, upon successful Graduation with Wolds Equine

Rehabilitation & Training, Certification and Professional Registration will be issued.

Course Details

Congratulations on deciding to enquire about the Wolds Equine Rehabilitation & Training,

Professional Equine Massage Certificate (Registered Practitioners Award). You have now

taken the first step towards your exciting new career. As Preferred Education Providers

(PrEP), we have undergone the Professional Review Process with the IAAMB Education

Board. This approval ensures that the required standards of competency for the Education

and Training we deliver have been met. Students that decide to enrol with Wolds Equine

Rehabilitation & Training, are authorised to apply for the IAAMB Student Membership.

Graduates can enjoy the benefits of being part a Professional Network with the

IAAMB/ACWT, promoting Recognition and Accreditation for our Profession.

There are four home study modules to complete which can be done at a pace to suit you.

Each module carries a total of 10 credits. The Qualification requires you to attend five

compulsory practical training days which are held throughout the year. Each training day

holds 10 credits. We aim to be as flexible as possible with these training dates. Some people

choose to block these days, whilst other students like to spread the days out equally during

their study period. Alternatively, for the more experienced students who hold qualifications

such as BHS Stage 2 or equivalent and human massage qualifications, the option of 3 semi

private practical days may be offered in place of the 5 group days. Your certificates to

support this would need to be submitted with your booking form. Training dates available

will be regularly updated on our website.

work within the parameters of the Law. It is vital you have chosen Wolds Equine as

Registered Approved Training Providers that are fully insured to provide you with the

correct Certification to carry out a long and successful Career as an excellent Approved

Therapist.

Throughout your studies you have access to tutor support which can be online, email, or

telephone. We encourage regular communication throughout your training and welcome

face to face tutorials when you attend the practical days, or alternatively by private

arrangement. Outcomes of the comprehensive syllabus will be measured by summative

assessments, submission of case studies and final examination. This examination will carry

20 credits. You will need the full 110 credits to be awarded the Qualification with

Practitioner Status. Upon successful completion of your Certified Course with us, you are

invited to register for your full IAAMB Individual Professional Membership.

We are happy to clarify any of the above points by telephone, just call for an informal chat
