Woof Greetings to all Dogs. It is a pleasure to write my first article for the WOG as your Jr. Vice Chief Devil Dog. It was a pleasure to serve you as your Smart Dog and I am anx-ious to continue to serve you as your Jr. Vice Chief. I am already in preparation of our upcoming Mid-Winter Growl; we have moved the Conference to March so hopefully the weather will be a bit more kind to us and allow more of the Order to attend. My annual raffle will soon be in print and I am looking for a unique gift to raffle off at the Growl. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Remember, many of us fly into the area so whatever the gift is, if the winner is flying, the item should be able to fit into standard luggage. I had wanted to give away Past Chief English’s Bike but that would be a bit large to carry on board a flight plus, I have not yet asked him for his permission to raffle it let alone the title for it. It seems as though we were just in Scottsdale, in Growl assembly, it is hard to believe that we are now entering the later part of September. Remember to turn in your instal-lation reports and your dues transmittals. Hopefully the Senior Vice won’t mind the reminders pertaining to membership but I know from experience that many things slip through the cracks and then suddenly spring out at us. Also, remember there are tools to help us all become better members of the Order; Obedience School is still a great place to look up information and to re-familiarize yourself using the plethora of infor-mation available. Woof Woof Dogs of the Order, My first order of business is to share my appreciation for your faith and support. Our focus is the same, TEAM, Together Everyone Achieves More. In order to follow our focus we must change our mindset. We can no longer wait on someone else or the other Marine to do it. All Devil Dogs out there knows a Marine in the League or their Detachment that is worthy to be a Devil Dog. Bring that Marine over to the Dog Side. I would like the Order to grow by leaps and bounds. A Marine may want to join but no Dog has asked them. Now that our mindset has changed and we are no longer waiting, let’s work the Honorable Kennel Dog Robber, PDD Joppa, by getting the new paperwork into him quickly, often and accurately. We must build our ranks. Also, 990’s are a necessary evil that must be done, please submit them time-ly. Again, I thank you for what you do and look forward to see the great things you are about to accomplish. I will see some of you at the Division Conference. If you need to contact me I can be reached at: (573)450-6125, by mail: 247 South Union Ave, Jackson, MO 63755 or email: [email protected]. Woof Woof PDD Leonard C. Spicer Sr. Vice Chief Devil Dog

Our Jr. Past Chief did a Wonderful Job...

Woof Woof Dogs of the Order,

What a great year we had!!! You made my tour as Chief Devil Dog exciting and fun. I learned a lot from all of you,

THANK YOU!

We worked together, overcame some obstacles and completed all our task in true "dog" style. We proved we are

the "FUN and HONOR" Society through our commitment and support of the Marine Corps League, our Order and

our communities. Let's keep our paws and noses on the same path, you are AWESOME.

Now I have some mighty big paws prints to fill in my new office, Jr. Past Chief Devil Dog. I will be calling on the

54th Chief Devil Dog for guidance since I am still trying to figure out exactly how he managed to do it the past two years. Otter can you put a paw print or smiley face here?

I stand ready to assist the new officers and support the 57th Chief Devil Dog with the same enthusiasm and sup-port I received during my tour.

Have a great fall romping around your dog yards in the leaves as we prepare for

the holiday season and all the programs we as Marines support during this time,

Old Dogs can learn so use it as an education tool for your Pounds and Packs. I urge you all to keep your Growls fun, plan them so the membership looks forward to them and encour-ages them to seek out good candidates for membership into the Order. Again I look forward to working with you and serving you as your Jr. Vice Chief. Please remember the men and women in uniform who serve our great Nation. Especially keep in mind those that are still in Harm’s way and pray for their safe return. Don’t forget to shake the hand of a fellow Veteran; especially our World War II and Korean Vets; we owe them all so much and a handshake and a thank you means so much to them. Remember, if you keep it fun, they will come! Thomas W. Hazlett

Woof Woof Devil Dogs, First of all I would like to say THANK YOU for believing in me enough to elect me as your Kennel Smart Dog. It is truly an Honor. I will do my best to answer any questions asked of me as quickly as possible. I look forward to working with Chief Smith, PDD Spicer and PDD Hazlett, and the rest of the Kennel staff. I believe we will keep the M.O.D.D. heading in the right direction. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me @ [email protected] or on my cell (252) 205-6506. Per the Kennel bylaws Article II – Pounds; Section 205 – Growls, Annual, Special and Staff; B. “YeeHaw! Get along little Doggies!” Wow, how many times did I hear those words barked out by our posse of Dog Handler’s; paired up, of course, with the sound of red hot branding irons finding their mark during initiation while out in the “West’s Most Western Town”? Dog Handlers did a great job of driving a motivated herd of Devil Dog’s on to their advancement this year! We had 92 DD’s advance to PDD and one brave Pup joined them as he moved up to DD, barkatulations to all of you! Special barks go out to 3d Platoon who, under the guidance of Dog Handlers PDD’s Jeff Jones and Brenda Baker, managed to secure the title of Honor Platoon! All platoons were subjected to the intense scrutiny of the Honorable Past Chief Devil Dogs on deck in Scottsdale and 3d Platoon managed to come out on top. Additional barks are in order for the Platoon Honor Dogs: 1st Plt PDD Richard Wegner AZ 2nd Plt PDD Mike Kirk OH 3rd Plt PDD Leo Nieves NC 4th Plt PDD Tony Fuller OK 5th Plt PDD Libby Davis AL 6th Plt PDD Funderewitz AZ 7th Plt PDD T.J. Morgan WA 8th Plt PDD Aaron Bazan CA 9th Plt PDD William Olson NV Final K-9 kudos go to 8th Platoon for winning the Platoon Cowdog Rodeo competition! Cujo’d on by their Dog Handler’s, PDD’s Russ Vermillion and Ghost Smith, the Dogs of 8th Platoon showed their prowess in the ways that won the old West! Things like ropin’, handgun fightin’, rodeo clownin’, cow patty tossin’, and old west singin’ just like they was out on the Chisolm trail. Way to go 8th, my ears will never be the same again! I can’t close without throwing out barks to the station monitors who did a fantastic job herding the Dogs through their stations and the Deputy Mad Dogs who pawed their duties expertly. Plans are already being made for Initiation - Tulsa 2016 and it’s never too early for you DD’s out there to start putting those bones aside and making your plans for the trip. Any PDD’s out there that would like to get in on the action in Tulsa, “Oil Capital of the World”, as a Dog Handler, Assistant Dog Han-dler, or Station Monitor go ahead and send me an email at [email protected], or call 573-659-5069 and I will add you to the list. I look forward to seeing everyone there next year! As always, it is an Honor to be a Devil Dog! Semper Latratus! PDD Alan Sanning Kennel Mad Dog

As your newly elected Kennel Police Dog, I am well aware of the large paws that I am charged with filling. Although I will be seeking advice and guidance from our legendary, former Kennel Police Dog (also known as Jack Severn), there is a new Chief of Police in Dog Town. Since the Devil Dogs are the “Fun and Honor Society” of the Marine Corps League, be prepared to HON-OR ALL DOG LAWS. My Deputies and I look forward to taking large quantities of bones from all disobedient dogs.

Now, as to the “fun” side of our society, I would like to thank all dogs involved in the inva-sion of JD’s Lounge in Scottsdale, AZ. Even though we suffered mass casualties, due to the tenacity of several hard-charging Devil Dogs and one past Madame Big Flea, we successfully “Stormed the Beach” (pool). This resulted in several more casualties; most notably a large, Tulsa, Bulldog who was miraculously revived after rolling off a lounge chair and into the pool, I mean the chlorinated, non-salted, beach water. Be sure to attend Mid-Winter where there will be several Bones of Honor awarded.

Woof Woof all you Karniverous Kanines; Congratulations to the 56th Chief Devil Dog Leanna Dietrich and the 2014-2015 Staff for an outstanding year and term of Office. This has been a challenging time for us all and their leadership and steadfast purpose have served the Order AND the League as well with great distinction. Congratulations to the newly elected 57th Chief Devil Dog C. O. Smith and all the returning and new Staff members. C.O. has served the Order for many years in several positions and has done an outstanding job in each one. He will be another great leader and Chief as we recover from past League issues. With the new team in place I am confident that the Order is in good hands. Last but certainly not least a hearty congratulations to PDD Jack Severn for being selected to join only 3 other Pedigreed Devil Dogs as the 4th Honorary Chief Devil Dog. Jack has served the Order with distinction through several Offices. He is active in his Pound, Pack and in the Kennel. I call him the “Rembrandt of the Order” for his outstanding work as the Kennel Staff Artist. He has done the artwork for many years, you can see his results in many patches, coins and ad book pages. He has been providing the incumbent Chief Devil Dog with their caricature likeness on Kennel Staff Shirts, the individual Chief’s stamp, and many oth-er items. This presentation is very well deserved. For those Officers who are new to the Kennel Staff please review the budget. If you have a line item for expenses please pro-vide me with receipts. The fiscal year is from July 1 to June 30 annually. All expense reimbursement requests need to be in my hands by the end of June so we keep the expenses in the correct fiscal year. The Kennel finances continue to remain healthy and strong. Last year at the 56th Chief’s request we added a new donation line to benefit the U. S. Marines Youth Physical Fitness. We are now donating $1,250.00 annually to that organization. This years’ donation to the Cardon Children's Medical Center was $31,000.00 (a Kennel record). The source of these funds for this dona-tion are from every Devil Dog’s passport stamping, Past Chief Devil Dog passport stamping, the profits from the sales of Pass-ports (sales price minus cost), and any donations to the Passport Account made by Packs and Pounds during the fiscal year. Thanks to all of you who supported this program via donations, purchases and attendance at growls. I am convinced that this donation is one of the very few in the country where the donated funds are 100% used for the charity. None of these funds are used for any other purpose and are strictly accounted for during the year. Our other donations come from the General Fund. We are now presenting checks totaling $10,000.00 to various entities on an annual basis. The source of these funds is from all the other income the Kennel takes in at the National Convention, Supreme Growl, and other items such as dues as well as other sundry income lines. Also, the next time you go to the Marine Corps Museum, if you happen to walk up around the Chesty Puller statue, keep in the back of your mind that the Order donated a total of $20,000.00 to the project. The 75th anniversary year came to a close at the start of the 2015 Supreme Growl. I hope you had a chance to get the anniver-sary booklet featuring “An Old Mutts Tail”, the recollections and musings of Past Chief Devil Dog Paul Sutton, as well as procure a 75th pin. As stated before, we are not going to order any more of these items. The Quartermaster will sell the inventory we have and then the project will be retired. So, if you have not gotten the items by now, be aware the time will be running out! S/W 49th CDD Doug Fisk Kennel Executive Director

On 28 June the snow had finally melted and I traveled north to Concord NH where I attended a growl of Chinook Pound 159. Sir Pound Keeper Mark Lindsley tried to keep the dogs under control by fining for even the smallest of infractions of the DD rules or what he thought was an infraction. Some rules were even developed by DD Lindsley as the growl progressed. PDD Shea kept harassing PDD Monnell See Photos) until she finally paid him off to go away. During the growl the dogs paid attention to DD Lindsley as shown in the photo. MCL member Cody Dumont was initiated into the Devil Dogs as a pup. Welcome, Cody. On 12 July I traveled to Portsmouth NH and attended a growl of Pound 349. It was a beautiful New England day being in the 90’s and the NH beaches were crowded. Sir Pound Keeper Brad Howe was late because he stated that the traffic was very heavy but his fur was still wet when he arrived. He was fined because he said he forgot his hat and had to be reminded that it ’s called a cover. He was also fined for not having a DD collar. Even after traveling the vast distance from Bedford NH to Portsmouth NH I was abused by the Pound Keeper and fined just for the hell of it. The Dog Robber stated how many bones the Pound had and was questioned if any of the bones were spent on brown water. During the good of the league I pointed out that the Pound Keeper failed to congratulate me for winning the ax throwing contest at one of the finer dog houses in NH. I presented the Pound’s status report and congratulated the Pound for having all of their reports up to date and 100% of the dues paid. The Dog Robber presented the proposed DD Bylaw changes to be voted on at this year’s Supreme Growl I participated in the audit of NH Pack and also Pound 159 financial records on 14 July. The records were up to date and it was determined that no bones were used to purchase doggie treats or brown water. I represented the New England Division Devil Dogs at the funeral for the spouse of PDD Deptula in RI. Mickey will be missed by all who knew him. PDD Deptula strongly supported the RI Pound and was involved in many DD and MCL activities having served in numerous positions. She is also the New England Division Chaplain. Representing the Devil Dogs, I continue to visit veterans at the VAMC in Manchester, NH in addition to serving on the board of the Building Dreams for Marines organization whose mission is to improve the lives of disabled Marines by improving their homes to make them more accessible for their disabilities. The Building Dreams for Marines conducted their major fundraising effort during August which is a golf tournament. Devil Dogs from NH manned the money hole raising over $1,000 In early August I traveled to Arizona to attend the MCL National Convention and the Devil Dogs Supreme growl. During the time I was there, it was 117 degrees making me wonder how any dog could live there. Obviously they need to drink a lot of the brown water so they don’t dehydrate. During the time I was at the convention I convened the budget committee for a review of the proposed DD budget for 2015-2016. Thanks to the efforts of our Executive Secretary, PCDD Fisk compiling the financial infor-mation needed and presenting it, a budget proposal was developed and presented to the dogs at the Supreme Growl for review and comment. The budget as presented was approved by the dogs in attendance. During the Supreme Growl I was once again picked on and fined for a bunch of made up rule infractions. I was fined 4 bones just because I forgot my name. A number of Dogs throughout New England continue to recognize Scouts who obtain the rank of Eagle Scout by participating in the awards ceremonies and making presentation on behalf of the MCL/MODD. At the end of August I attended a picnic of the VT detachment held in the northeast Kingdom. Had I driven just a few miles more north I would have been in Canada. Great picnic, and as always it was a great time to associate with fellow Marines. All Packs/Pounds were continually reminded of the im-portance of getting the dues into the paws of the Kennel Dog Robber by 1 September and they were also reminded of the importance of filing their 990 forms Frank A. Only picture I have received this quarter is from the Robert Bush Jr MOH Pound 353 of the picnic held in Cen-

Our Montana Dogs are busy holding their growls and many functions such as: Anniversary Dinner, Nelson’s High

This was our 56th Past Chief’s motto for her term in office. IT WORKS! This Dog is standing tall on his hind legs, barking very loudly of how proud he is of our Dogs in the Southern Division. For the first time in this Division, a Pound received 1st Place in membership. Great Job to River Valley Pound #346 in Arkansas! Southern Division also was awarded 3rd Place. Thanks to all the Dogs for, not only adding new wor-thy Dogs, but in rounding up all those strays. This year our Division raised about 845 Big Bones toward the record breaking 31,000 Big Bones for the Mesa Children’s Hospital. Remember, every time you hold a growl you pay a Big Bone as a Passport fee. These Bones go to Kennel towards this project. So, if you have some extra Bones you don’t know what to do with, send them in with your Passport Fees. As a reminder: all Dog Robbers should keep a current copy of our Bylaws, Ritual, and Dog Robber Manual. They can be purchased from our Kennel Quartermaster or downloaded from our website. At every Supreme Growl changes to our Bylaws are voted on. Any Dog who wants to submit a change can do so.. They just have to submit the change per the procedure found in the bylaws manual. Wrapping up---I want to remind the Dogs, especially the Dogs in our Division, that the 2016 Supreme Growl will be in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Make your hotel reserva-tions now. All Dog Robbers: make sure that all Dogs that are qualified for advance-ment get their paper-work in ASAP. This will be the closest location for a Supreme Growl for quite a while. Woof woof dogs of the Order; The National convention and the Supreme Growl are finished. All Packs and Pounds should remember to elect and install your new officers then submit your ROI's. We have ninety days from the end of the Supreme Growl to get this done. We had a good time in Scottsdale, 92 Devil Dogs were advanced to PDD and 1 PUP was advanced to DD. We all had fun and howls with the "cowdog rodeo" thanks to a great job by Mad Dog PDD Sanning. The Midwest Division is going strong, and not just in odor. Iowa, Kansas and Missouri reported holding their Grand Growls this past June. Pound 122 Iowa Pack was involved in the placement of a new marble monument to the Marine Corps at the Iowa Veter-ans Cemetery at VanMeter. More than 140 attended the dedication ceremony. Funds for the monument were raised by Marines across Iowa. I'm happy to report Southwest Missouri is forming a new Pound, Ozark Mountain Dogs, and should be operational this month. We are getting set for our Midwest division Fall Con-ference to be held this October in Lincoln, Nebraska. Here's woofing at you. PDD Steve Michalski VCDD Midwest Division PS. This is a notice for any and all PUPs wanting to advance to DD at the Midwest Division 2015 Fall Conference to make sure their forms are complete and forwarded to their Worthy Dog Robber.

As summer winds down, we look back at a great Convention in Scottsdale. Thank you to the Arizona Dogs and other Marines for a great job. Congratulations to our new Chief, My hero C.O. Smith. Past Chief Dietrich, thank you for guiding us for the last year. I would like to congratulate all the new PDDs. A special thank you and congratulations to Platoon #5 for making my job as Dog Han-dler a breeze. I've enjoyed the job for the past 5 years and hope to continue in Tulsa. Things are a little slow in the Central division right now, but will be picking up as the Pound Growls and elections begin. I've heard there are possible PDD upgrades under the WII and Korean War exemption in the future. I look forward to seeing these dogs re-ceive their Gold Collar. Central Division Dogs if you need any help or have any news for me, my e-mail is: [email protected] I look forward to another year of serving as your Division Vice Chief. Woof, Woof; Devil Dogs let start by saying I honored to announce that in the last 6 months the Division has been award two new Pound charters. I like to also announce that the Kennel did outstanding on Pass Port Fees last Year, the Kennel presented the Children's Hospital with a check for $31,000.00. Thank You to all the Devil Dogs of the Rocky MTN Division. With that said, and the Supreme Growl over its time for each Pound to hold their annual elections. I also like to ask each Pound Dog to check their rosters to ensure each Devil Dog is up to date on their Dues. Well doing so also check your EIN status, 990, and Incorporation. Make you

Woof Woof !! After a Grand visit to the National Convention where we had a few, but not nearly as many mem-bers from the SE as usual advancing. Those that attended and advanced to PDD had a Hot time in Scottsdale. Having achieved the 2nd Place Membership (PDD James F Powell) Award the Southeast is embark-ing on a mission to find more from the cream of the crop of Leaguers. We will improve on those numbers and bring more of those members to the Order. After returning I have had the opportunity to advance a couple of medically exempt members to PDD in Florida. While they miss their initiation their Pounds and Pack officers turned out to wel-come them to the ranks of PDD.

As we prepare for the SE Division Growl in March in Augusta GA, we expect much sniffing and barking throughout the pounds and packs of the southeast. Woof Woof!!

Woof! Woof!

I hope all you dogs that attended the National convention in Scottsdale, AZ had a good time. Congratulations to all our new PDDs who moved up in the heat of the desert! The weather in AZ wasn’t too bad; remember it’s a dry heat – just like an oven!!

I will once again be hanging around the dog house at the Midwinter National Conference in Falls Church, VA. Although I am hoping winter will actually be in our rearview mirror by March 3-5th. I will be helping the Jr. Vice Chief Devil Dog sell raffles to support the Kennel. Bring bones and come looking to have a good time!

I would be remiss if I didn’t congratulate both our PCDD Leanna Dietrich for being awarded National Marine of the Year and Jack Severn for being endowed with the title Honorable Chief. Well-deserved for both of them!!

This old cur has been busier than that famous proverbial multi-endowed sailor in Shanghai! Since the Last Woof-O-Gram I’ve been to3 Pound Growls, 2 Grand Growls, 1 Supreme Growl, 2 County Fairs, 1 Rodeo and a hog-calling contest. The Growls were, without a doubt, the most fun (the hog-calling was a close one, however!). Those of you that were in attendance at the National Convention & Supreme Growl in Scottsdale may be able to relate. That was an outstanding Convention & Growl-- a great venue and wonderful hospitality, both of which far outweighed the hot weather and any glitches that may have occurred. Makes the Southwest Division proud! I know most of the Dogs out there don’t want to hear any more whining from this part of the country, but we are literally burning to the ground out here. With the drought everything is drier tan unbuttered popcorn & is liter-ally exploding, with very little relief in sight. We are begging for some rain, so if some of you can spare any, we’ll take it. On a different note, we have lost some good Devil Dogs in the last year. Some, of course, have left this earth. Others, however, have just stopped participating and became strays. This is not satisfactory, and we have to find an answer. Recruitment isn’t the answer because we don’t take every one who applies. They must be recommended and accept-ed. Once accepted, we must get them involved. Let’s come up with some innovative ide-as and present them up the ladder. ‘Nuff said! PDD Bob Villalobos 00-228 SWDVCDD

TAKING ACTION

Congratulations to the Marine Corps League for taking the recent action it took at the 92nd National Con-vention held in Scottsdale, AZ in August. Because there was a concern for the welfare of our Marine Corps League (MCL), members of the National Board of Trustees saw to it the future of our organization remain fostered for future success. There were concerns that had to be addressed at the Convention and they were. Kudos to our leadership and membership who attended this year’s National Convention for con-ducting themselves in a proper manner that allowed for the discussion of our future to prevail.

Sometimes we must simply stop ourselves to ask “Are we following all business activities that are prudent.” It must be realized that the current situation at the National Headquarters is not completed. There are some details that need to be adjudicated that have not yet come to light, but it is comforting that our mem-bership is onboard to see it through.

We, as Dogs of the Order, must see to it that our actions support the Marine Corps League, because with-out the MCL there is no Military Order of the Devil Dogs.

Woof, woof!

SOUTHWEST DIVISION HIT A HOME RUN FOR THE 76th SUPREME GROWL...

FALL EDITION 2015 Bone 13

Page 14: Wog Fall 2015

Dog Justice at the Mideast Division Conference Growl, June 27, 2015 in Fredericksburg, VA. Mideast Division VCDD Craig Reeling opened up the Growl with a welcome to all members of the division. Several members of the North Carolina Pack, which included PDD Jeff Jones, PDD Charles Minton, PDD Ken Parker, PDD Terry Hightower and PDD Richard Rust, brought their NC Pack “Mascot” with them and were bragging about how they had obtained their new “Dog.” They mentioned that while they traveled in convoy on the way home from the National Convention in Charleston, West Virginia, last August, they stopped off at a petting zoo in southern West Virginia. They noted some small farm animals in a nearby field so they climbed over a fence and commenced to mingle among the animals. A farmer came out and told them he wanted them out of his field immediately. One of the members, who was very short and stocky, grabbed one of the animals, jumped over the fence and ran off down the highway heading south toward North Carolina. The other members climbed over the fence, got into their cars and drove away in the same direction, trying to catch up to the member running toward the border. This inci-dent was brought to the attention of the West Virginia Pack who dispatched some MODD members to go speak with the farmer. The farmer stated all those cars had North Carolina license plates so he had to assume they were all “Tar Heels” as they had taken one of his animals. The WV Pack has been on the look out for this farmer ’s animal and when the NC Pack showed up at the Growl, it was noted that this animal was the missing farm animal. Members of the WV Pack including Pack Leader PDD Mike McLain, PDD Rick Shank, PDD Harvey Gum and PDD Roger Ware, using their stealth skills and recon training they developed in the Marine Corps, surrounded the members of the NC Pack and repatriated the “mountaineer” mule. Some might say it looked like a sheep but that was debatable. Members of the NC Pack voiced their concerns that they did not know it was considered a sheep. VCDD Reeling fined them for illegal trespassing, obtaining an animal under false circumstances, lack of knowledge in animal recognition and for being from NC. The contingent of the NC Pack tried to come up with a reasonable defense but they didn’t have enough “dog sense” between all of them to put forth a favorable explanation on their behalf, so Reeling fine them additional fees for not having a Smart Dog with them. Member of the MD Pack, most notably PDD Jim Brady, PDD Bud Raines, PDD Guy Hall, PDD Evie Remines, PDD Don Benson, PDD Jack Severn and others, came to the defense of the NC Pack members and they were also fined for potential larceny and trying to incite a riot due to their howling and weird barks. They tried to steal the animal from the WV Pack. Cont. pg 20.

I’m pleased to advise that this year’s photo CD is finished and sent to all those who purchased one

during Convention week. We were able to get these out in record time thanks in part to all submit-

ted photos being forwarded immediately after the Convention and the Kennel’s purchase of a high

speed multi disc CD burner. Burning of all the discs took less than forty five minutes to complete ver-

sus two to three days as it has taken in past years. The mailing went to the Post Office and complet-

ed on Friday September 4th.

Of greatest interest to the members who were in attendance at the closing banquet was the 94

year old Navajo Code talker who sang the Marines’ Hymn in the Navajo language. It received a

standing ovation and I’m pleased to announce that the MP3 video of this event is the last item on

the CD. It really was an inspiring moment! Also on the CD is a short video of the Tuesday night trip to

Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa. The “dancing cats” is something to be seen!

Anyone who desires a copy of this year’s CD can send a check made out to MODD Kennel and ad-

dressed to me at:

I will get a copy out to you right away. Rest assured this video is worth the price of the entire CD.

(Cont from pg 14) Mid East Dogs...Members of the Virginia Pack including PDD Lee Taylor, PDD Bill Watson, PDD Don Coons and others set speechless as they learned the Tar Hells had passed through their area and they failed to charge them an import fee. VCDD Reeling fined them for failing to act responsibly and not securing their bor-ders. The members of the WV Pack demonstrated they were suave and debonair by maintaining a low profile. They mentioned they were only trying to help a poor retired farmer who just happened to be an Air Force veter-an. They were fined for taking so long to find the farmer’s animal. One has to truly wonder what those Tar Hells wanted their new mascot for anyway. It’s pretty obvious that members of the NC Pack were living large in the hills of NC and didn’t get out very much and didn’t have appreciation for any animal. And then, all Dogs need to wonder if this is a common thing the NC Pack does in foreign territory. The enclosed picture (Pg 6.) proves the facts of the story. WHAY-S HAPPENIN! A few, darned few, Pounds are letting us know what's happenin' in their backyards. For instance, DD Scott VanGrol, Dog Robber of "Weinie" Pound 37(NY) puts out a great Pound Newsletter- Their next GROWL will be Friday, 24 January 1986. In the Newsletter I found this, well worth repeating to EVERY Pound in our Kennel: PROMOTE: Sell the Devil Dogs to qualified Leaguers you know are worthy to be Dogs. pROVIDE: Pay your dues on tlme, sell tlckets when needed or screw up at a GROWL so the Poundkeeper can flne you. Pound 96(NJ) reports that Honorary Devil Dog, PDD Stanley Jekonski passed away, after a short illness. He was 88 years young, and attended every GROWL right up to his death. He was a veteran of several crucial battles in France during World War I. The Dogs of his home Detachment, Semper Marine Det., of Vineland, NJ provided the honor guard and the appro-priate ceremony at his funeral and intermment. WELL DONE! Pound 136(NJ) has also been very busy under the direction of their new POUNDKEEPER, PDD Jim Powell. They recently held their annuel Christmas party at Elizabeth Bener Medical Center, Elizabeth, NJ, and installed the new officers at the annual Christmas par-ty. Past Chief Ed Gallagher officiated, as he has done for the past several years. This is PDD Mae Krasss' home Pound, so you know things run right!! That's right, if you win, you'll get a ceramic statue with YOUR FACE on it, dressed in the uniform of the era that you served in the CORPS, whether it be World War II, Korea, or Vietnam. It can be Blues, Greens, or Utilities. The chances are $5.00 each (1,000 chances ONLY will be sold) and the drawing will be held 20 March 1986. DEVIL DOG’S CREED By PDD George E. Williams

I am an American, I was born in France. I hold the title

of United States Marine, and understand the commit-

ment of holding the title, Devil Dog. It is a tradition

born at Belleau Wood in the year 1918, of a force in

readiness and the “First to Fight.” As a Devil Dog, I ask

no quarter and give no quarter. I will do everything in

my power to uphold the objectives of the Military

Order of Devil Dogs and to carry out my duties to a

swift and satisfactory completion.
